 prayers for my family...
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2009, 11:27am »

A short time ago, I received a phone call.... My younger sister
and her husband were in a car accident. My brother-in-law was
pronounced dead at the scene and my sister is in stable but
critical condition. Mom and older sis are on their way to the city
to find out more.....

Please add my family and I to your prayer list.... SG

update...

My sister is in stable condition, she has multiple fractures...
Shoulder-Pelvis-Ribs-Sternum & Spine and a 6 inch gash in her
forehead, they are watching her spleen for signs of a rupture.
She will have a long road to recovery, they don't think she will
be paralyzed with the spinal fracture as she is able to move her
legs.

She's going to make it, but she has not been told of her
husbands death. Her Son is in route along with her husbands
brother.... I am on hold, waiting to see what I can or should
be doing....

Thank you for the prayers and keep them coming.... Cherie

My nephew called this morning with an update, she will
be going into surgery today to try to put her pelvis back
together. They worked for 2 hours last evening to put
her forhead back together. She has not been told of her
husbands death, she is still very heavily sedated.

Hugs and many thanks for your prayers, Cherie

thank you all for your prayers....

My nephew told my sister that her husband was killed in
the wreck and this adds to her mental distress. Both legs
are now in a cast, surgery was delayed as her lungs are
not in good shape. They are trying to adjust her pain med's
and she is having none of it, spent the night screaming and
yelling obcenities at the nurses. Through the years she has
built up quite a tolerance to pain meds....

My older sister is quite concerned about my Mom, not sure
if she has had another small stroke, but they are taking her
in to the doctor today.... Luv, SG

update...

My mom is now on a mild mood stabilizer and seems to
be doing a little better. Sis is taking her to OK city today
she wants so badly to bring her home and take care of
her, but this is not an option.

The doctors went ahead with the pelvic bone surgery,
according to her son, the surgery went well, she has
plates, nuts and bolts etc. holding it together. Ankles
are fractured as well and casts on both of them....
Although she was told about husbands death she
continues to ask where he is, am guessing the drugs
did not allow her to remember. More surgery a possibility,
but it's wait and see for now.... Her son is coming home
Monday and will take time to regroup, then back again.

Me, I'm hanging in there..... Hugs, Cherie

P.S. thank you for the prayers!

Will continue to pray for you all. Too bad with all the surgery and injuries that she will have to be on strong medicaiton. She isn't going to want to quit them any time soon if she is in a lot of pain.

I have good news this morning, they were able to get
my sister out of bed (had to put her on a board to slide
her over to the chair) this morning! They have taken the
feeding tube out and she is able to have water, she even
managed to eat a little breakfast. Looks like she will
be moved to a regular room, no more ICU needed. ;D
She's still got a long road to travel, a bunch of bones
need time for healing as does her frame of mind.....

I want to thank you all again for the prayers.....

Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Younger Sis is now in a rehab and in pretty good shape
for the shape she's in. Have no idea how long she will
be there, but she will eventually relocate back here in
Las Vegas with her son and his wife. I can see where
this could cause friction but am hoping for the best. Not
my decision! At the moment she has $0 income and no
prospects of getting any.....

Think this is my last update, although I'm sure I'll be
writing about her in the Nar-Anon section on the boards.
Again, many thanks to all of you for the prayers and good
thoughts, I think they really did their job!

Hugs to each, SG

My sister has been home from the hospital for a while now.
She got both casts off her legs less than a week ago...
It seems at some point she took a fall and the work they did
on her pelvis is all undone. She is back in the hospital and
will have surgery again. One leg is much shorter than the
other and her pelvis is completely tilted and I am not
certain what all else is messed up. Only thing I can do is let
the doctors do what they can for her. Please keep her in
your prayers! She remains sick in her body, mind and spirit!

Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Sis is back home from the hospital again, pelvic surgery this
time was even more extensive... They had to open her
up front and back side! She seems to be following Dr's
orders a little closer..... Takes her pain meds every 4 hrs
around the clock. Not a good thing for an addict....

She did speak to me on Christmas Day to thank me for the
gift I sent her, other than that no conversations....

I am still firing up prayers and thinking good thoughts....

Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl
