We must give freely and gratefully that which has been freely and gratefully given to us."
Basic Text p. 47
Many times a name comes to mind, and I think, I wonder where they are now. So many good people were put in my path and I am so grateful for the teachers that I had along the way.
I am always reminded that what goes, grows and comes back to me. I pray that the people that were put in my path are truly blessed for having given and shared their experience, strength, and hope with me.
I found it so much easier to give if I do it with one of gratitude. Not because I have to, but because I want to. Many times over the years, when I have gone into the jail, detox, and treatment centers, we are asked the question, "Why are you here?" I replied, "To stay clean and sober and pass the message of hope to you." When you sow the seed, you never know what will be reaped. It isn't up to me to make them hear the message, all I need to do is carry it. The rest is up to my God and their God as they understand God to be.

Must give it away in order to keep it...However I must have it first in order to give it away...otherwise I'm just talking out of my hat

So true, it takes one to know one. You have to live it to know it. I was just talking to my sponsor and as she says, for her it is in the now or 3 seconds because she has seizures. It isn't about how long I have in the program, it is about how I live my life in today.
