Sunday, December 21, 2014 Limiting beliefs Have you become addicted to limiting beliefs? Do those limiting beliefs soothe you and comfort you while at the same time holding you back? In the short term, it can be much easier to tell yourself you can’t do it. Yet when you look at the big picture, it’s much better to go ahead and do the work of achievement. You can comfort yourself today by believing that your lack of progress is not your responsibility. However, you’ll soon be paying for that short-term comfort with long-term regret. It is difficult work to acknowledge and follow the best of your possibilities. And it is well worth the effort. For your dreams are calling to you, and they’ll never be satisfied until you do something about them. You have what it takes to reach them, and they know it. Break free of your dependence on limiting beliefs. And achieve the great things that only you can bring to life. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/motivate/091221....1RIzM1KJ7Gv.99

Productive momentum
A great way to get things done is to already be getting things done. To be highly productive, establish and maintain some productive momentum.
Momentum is a powerful thing. A body at rest has a strong tendency to stay at rest, and a body in motion has the same strong tendency to continue in motion.
Get yourself in motion, and you’re much more likely to stay in motion. Get started on something, and you’re well on your way to doing everything that must be done.
If you’re having trouble getting motivated to do a particular task, then start working on something else. The important thing is to get yourself going, to get the productive and creative juices flowing.
When you feel the satisfaction of making a difference in one area, you’re much more eager to make a positive difference in another area. Just get started on something, establish a strong momentum, and let that momentum pull you forward.
Life gets better the more you put some good, solid effort into it. Go ahead, make that initial effort, build some productive momentum, and soon you’ll have a whole lot of valuable work done.

Tuesday, December 23, 2014 Let life unfold You put a great deal of energy and effort into moving your life in a particular direction. Show your confidence in all you’ve done, and in all you continue to do, by allowing life in this moment to unfold as it will. Let go of your attachment to a specific result and let the good work you’ve done come to fruition. Though the results may not be exactly as you imagined them, they will surely bring the richness and fulfillment you seek. You’ve done much to get yourself to this day. Now, accept the unique flavor of the day as it arrives in each moment. There is much more you can do, with many new opportunities and possibilities coming your way. Accept this day, this moment, this time for all it is, and know that you can move positively forward from it. Peacefully and thankfully let life unfold. As you do, continue to enthusiastically give your best to each moment. This is your time to live, and to enjoy the positive difference your life makes. Let life unfold as it will, and delight in the new richness it continues to bring. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#lzXQ5C5QoRz5Jker.99

Wednesday, December 24, 2014 Peace within Let peace be within you. When there is true peace on the inside, that peace energizes and uplifts all you do. Imagine how it would be to think, feel, speak and act from an abiding sense of inner peace. Imagine it, and then live what you imagine. Think of how you would live your life if you had an unshakable sense of peace deep within. Know that you do have that peace, connect with it, and let it influence your every moment. Peace is yours to choose regardless of what else may be going on. Yes, it takes intention, commitment and strength and yes, it is well worth whatever you put into it. The world often tells you to live from the shallow perspective of your ego. You can greatly benefit yourself, and everyone else, by going much deeper. Give peace a safe, secure and treasured place within, and let it grow. Be the strongest you can be today, by being peaceful. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#74MG7BpP5wHX3MD7.99

Friday, December 26, 2014 Connected You don’t have to know everything that happens the moment it happens. Just because you can be connected, informed and up to the minute, doesn’t mean you always have to be. You don’t have to be constantly entertained by flashing images, pulsating sounds, words, opinions and comments. Take some time to process it all, to find real meaning in it all, and to remember who you truly are. Don’t spend all your time and energy just documenting your life and comparing it to others. Enjoy the opportunity to actually live your life, apart from the updates, the fleeting images and superficial comments. It’s great to be able to connect with so many others in so many ways. Make sure those connections are meaningful and substantive, and not just a waste of time and bandwidth. Resist the temptation to connect just because you can. When you connect, connect because you care. Let go of the need for a constant stream of stimulation. Give real life, love, feeling and wisdom the chance to grow. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#TfHmsyyxsRFrGaLl.99

Saturday, December 27, 2014 Let yourself enjoy Let yourself enjoy the moment you’re in, the place you are, and the things you’re doing. Let yourself enjoy the life you have right now. It’s great when you work to make life better, richer and more fulfilling. But don’t ever give up the chance to enjoy all the goodness you already have. The more fully you enjoy this day, the better tomorrow will be. Instead of indefinitely putting off your enjoyment until some idealized time in the future, experience enjoyment at every opportunity. You don’t need for everything to line up in a certain way in order to enjoy yourself. All you really have to do, is make the choice. Instead of judging each situation, each person and each activity, make the choice to give of yourself. Give your joy, and make the moment truly enjoyable. Joy instantly makes life richer and more satisfying. Go ahead, right now, and let yourself enjoy. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#vwh6IXapIkl04dtr.99

Sunday, December 28, 2014 Be reasonable Follow the rules, stick to proven and effective procedures, but be reasonable. Expect the best, but be reasonable. People make mistakes, and accidents will happen. You are a living, caring, compassionate, reasoning person, not a machine. Be efficient, but be reasonable. Every situation is different. Solve problems rather than just handling them. Cure the cause and not just the symptom. You have the wonderful ability to reason. Use it! If you pretend not to be able to reason people will see though the charade and it will only hurt you in the end. Great minds can devise elaborate systems which anticipate 95% of the situations they will encounter and handle them with preprogrammed efficiency. For the other 5%, be extra reasonable. Use your mind to determine when to make an exception. Take care to respond with intelligence rather than reacting with detachment. Recognize those exceptions that prove the rule. You can think. You can reason. So do it. Be reasonable, and you’ll stand high above the uncaring noise. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/motivate/991228....mPIOoRzV3f2.99

Monday, December 29, 2014 Live true Today, in the everyday details of life, feel your purpose. Today, as you choose how to spend your time, live your purpose. Your life has unique meaning and the potential for much more meaning. Stay true to the real, living, authentic person you are, and fulfill that potential. You know what feels right for you and what feels wrong. Pay attention to that feeling, and remind yourself to stick with what’s right. Enjoy and explore, learn and love, create, support and empower all that is important to you. You have meaningful work to do, and a beautiful vision to express, and today is your opportunity to do it. Don’t let yourself get too conceited or too dismayed by what others think or say about you. Do what you know is good and right, and in line with your purpose, and all will work out for the best. Live true to your deeply felt purpose. And you will truly live well. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#AsLvR98vEwRHWdHp.99

Tuesday, December 30, 2014 Remember well Remember your mistakes, and what you learned from them, and apply those lessons as you move forward. Remember your successes, and how great they felt, and inspire yourself to create more. Live in the present, well informed by the past. Work toward a bright future, carrying all the best treasures you’ve collected along the way. Though you cannot change what has already happened, you can choose precisely what to take from it. Let go of the pain, while holding on to the wisdom and joy. Remember where you started, and realize how far you’ve come. Remember how much effort you’ve invested, and honor that investment by building on it in each new moment. Remember all those who have given you love, support, and encouragement along the way. Remember how good that felt, and remember that there are those who would benefit from your help right now. Remember how rich and meaningful life can be. Then step forward and make this day better than anything you can remember. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#B0GOuT2FaW1AyrzI.99

Life Is Worth Living
"These, then, are my last words to you: Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living. and your belief will help create the fact. William James (1842 ~ 1910)
I have lived my life as a compulsive eater and I have known many other compulsive eaters. I believe I can say unequivocally that life is much more difficult in so many ways for us than for many others. I denied that what I suffered from was a disease; yet I watched as over the years it robbed me of so many things others take for granted. Most of us will acknowledge early on that the manifestations of compulsive eating affects us spiritually, emotionally and physically. Volumes have been written about each of these so most reading this know the devastation it causes. When I began to inventory my life and saw how much the quality of it had suffered, it saddened me greatly.
I believe one of the most difficult ways the disease of COE, or any compulsive illness, affects us is the way society looks upon us. Because I have experienced life both ways, I know how behavior and attitudes change in interacting with a COE vs a non-COE. We wear our disease on the outside ... but the extensive damage is far more wide-spread than just the physical. The disease wrecks havoc in every area of our lives as we silently go about our life doing the things expected of us. We don't dare scapegoat the disease. After all, this is not a cancer ... or heart disease. Yet it can be just as serious.
Many decades ago, a group of alcoholics gathered and, as a result, life began to change for those of us who struggled with the disease. When I reached the point in my life that I could actually acknowledgement that compulsive eating was affecting it and that I had done everything possible to stop it and couldn't, it was one of the most freeing moments I've ever experienced. I learned that I was as powerless over this as I would have been suffering a heart attack. I also learned that I couldn't handle it alone. I learned that there were twelve steps that were absolutely necessary if I were to survive emotionally and, perhaps even physically.
I went from fighting the disease to acknowledging it. Because of the Steps I learned that there were tens of thousands of others exactly like me and that we all spoke the same beautiful language. I learned not to be afraid of life ... and that, despite this despicable disease, life is truly worth living. I was told to "act as if" and by doing this it became no longer an act.
One day at a time ... I affirm that my life is worth living. One day at a time, I affirm that I will not be afraid of anything that makes me feel otherwise.

Wednesday, December 31, 2014 Big, beautiful world There is a whole big, beautiful world out there. From where you are, you can gain access to the very best of it. It’s easy to become dismayed when you focus too long on your own immediate surroundings. It can feel like you are stuck, and like all the best opportunities have already played out. Yet that’s not the case at all. Every day, countless numbers of people are living lives of true fulfillment, and that fulfillment is really not so far away from you. Although your choices may seem limited, that’s just because of your limited perspective. Look around, look outward, open your mind and your senses to more of what’s going on in this big, beautiful world. If the news seems to all be negative, that’s because the good things are so common and so pervasive that they are not considered news. Despite the urgings of those who profit from your fear, the world is filled with goodness and value. Step away from your comfortable habits, assumptions and routines. There’s a whole big, beautiful world out there, and it’s yours to explore, to enjoy, and to make even better. — Ralph Marston Read more at greatday.com/#mq8GsxS3iPUIbyVP.99
