Hey Jo---sometimes the best thing to do is nothing! I hope your feet will be feeling better. It is good to take care of yourself because if you don't you won't be of any use to your sister or anyone else. Your brother in law sounds like he is not going to change and you are right! why expect any thing different? There is a phrase from the movie "Forest Gump" that says "I love you and there is nothing you can do about it" Does that apply to your sister & brother in law???----Bunnypie

She is my sister, no matter what. Him I take with a grain of salt, I find him to be very mentally abusive toward her for many years. Everyone came before her, even the kids she baby sits and as a result, her heart and diabetes were very late being diagnosed. She didn't have time to go to the doctor and if she didn't think that way, he reminded her. Needless to say, I have to keep praying. It is an on going thing, each time something new comes up.

Your love & loyalty to your sister is understandable. What is that old saying? Blood is thicker then water? I have 3 sisters. They are the only direct blood relatives I have. We have been thru a lot of emotional & financial turmoil since Mom's death but they are still my sisters. I may not like them but I love them. I don't know if that makes any sense? It is what it is........Bunnypie

Know what you mean. I love you, but I don't always love or like your actions, words, decisions, etc. It is ironic, I can call my sister who was operated on and run out of things to say within 10 min. I can call my sister that is long distance and we can talk for an hour. The same with several friends. I can go out and spend lunch and shop with them, pick up the phone when I get home and talk to them.

Just for today, I will ask for the willingness to be willing, to do what I need to do for my health and well being. When I get a mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual block, I will pray and ask for what I need to take down the barriers. As the skunk says, "If your ego is not your amigo, you know it stinks!" The skunk means respect. Respect the skin your in.

Wow! I know exactly what you mean with certain people. I miss my sponsor so much! We can talk for hours about anything and everything. There are other people that I see at meetings and I run out of things to say after a few minutes. Chemistry? Trust? Not much in common? I don't know! I love the little skunk that was in Bug Bunny. His name was Pepe La Phew and he was French and real romantic. Bugs Bunny had some great cartoons! They don't make 'em like that anymore!!! Sigh!-----Bunnypie

Love that, I heard, "Put a little sugar on it, because what goes out comes back to you and you may have to eat your words."

Just for today, I will trust the process. I am a work in progress. Some days are just a little better than others. As a long-timer said many years ago, "I don't have bad days, I just have bad moments in a day."

YES! that is a good way to look at it. Just because you have a bad moment doesn't mean it has to mess up the whole day! What is that old phrase? One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch???------Bunnypie

I firmly believe that we are products of our environment. If you hang around a bad apple, you can become a bad apple yourself. The say a positive and a negative becomes a negative. The law of science, which has proved true in my own life. We lived next door to three brothers who swore up a storm. They made up new swear words or they said words that made them sound like swear words. When I came into recovery, this little Christian girl who went to church and Sunday School, had a mouth like a long shore man. That is why my sponsor and spiritual adviser for NA said to clean up my body, mind and spirit and that means clean up your mouth.
