GIVE UP
Many of us have some type of addiction. It may shopping. It may be drugs or alcohol. It may be watching sports or playing games on the Internet. No matter the addiction, when we are addicted we are spending time away from God. If we want to give more to God, we have to give up our addictions. God can help. When we get deeper in His word, reading, studying, meditating and applying it to our lives, He will help us with our addictions so we can give them up and give more time to Him. And give it of our own free will.
SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 8:3 "For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will." (NLT)
ACTION STEPS:
1. Write down anything you focus on too much.
2. List some things you may be addicted to.
3. Ask God to break you of your addictions.
4. Pray, read His word and seek Him rather than the things of the world.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You give us free will to choose what we do every day. You give us a mind and a heart to make choices about all we do. Help us today to make the right choices and to move away from any addictions in our lives. We want to give freely to You and obey You but our addictions continue to pull us away from You. Help us to recognize what we are addicted to, dig deep into Your word and seek Your help to remove these addictions from our lives. We put our trust in You, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
REMEMBER:
We are given free will from God to do as we want; however, He gives us guidelines to live by and wants us to follow Him.
Free will sometimes causes us to choose the wrong things. That is why it is so important we stay in God's word and seek Him when we are tempted.
Temptations come in all shapes and forms. God's word can help us resist the temptation and continue living for Him.
When we are faced with an addiction we can't seem to get rid of, God can help if we turn it over completely to Him.
If we want to truly be free from addictions, God can help. He can set us free.
FOCUS: John 8:36 "So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free." (NLT)
Addictions to anything can lead to sin. Jesus can free us from that sin and set us on the right path.

I questioned the title. I don't give up, I give over.
