I was really in a frazzle yesterday. I can't imagine how my husband was feeling. I posted about this in the chipping away section, but decided this might be a better place.
Yesterday my husband found the dead body of an elderly neighbor. He had been our neighbor about 25 years. he lived alone and was very quiet but freindly. He always came to hardees and sat behind us each day. We'd talk about sports, the price of eggs, gas, etc, the rising cost of insurance and utilities...whatever was on his mind. He was a very nice person with not much family. When he did not show up On Monday We noticed but did not get around to checking on him. Then on Tuesday when he did not show I KNEw somethign was wrong. I asked my husband to check on him during the day. He did. the door was unlocked and he was sitting in the chair in the living room. He'd been dead about 2 days.
I know my husband is already depressed and with this on his mind, it's not helping. So i am asking prayers for my husband as well as the family and freinds of our neighbor.
THANKS! LIN

I think I would have been depressed too if I was in his shoes and found someone dead, or better yet, rattled. Prayers are said for him and of course the family of the poor man who died all alone.

( ( ( ( Lin & Mike ) ) ) )
Sending prayers for the both of you and for the family and friends of this man.....
Is there anyone that Hubby can talk to when he is feeling this severe depression? My heart goes out to him, I know this is a hard thing to deal with.
Peace on the journey, ~SG~

Last week he had two appointments with his shrinks and this week the day after the incident he had one with his counselor at the shrink's office. My guess is he never tells them of his depression. He seems to thin it is normal to lay in bed and wtch tv day and night when it's cold outside. But he DID have the opportunity...I hope he used it. I dont go behind his back and contact his doctors. He has way too many for that even if I wanted to. When he goes to the VA he sees a different one each time. An dhe has about 8 different ones here too for various things.
Thanks for the prayers. The funeral is saturday. If is afternoon we will probably go. We both have plans all morning. But I am sure we will go to the visitation on Friday. I expect it to be in the paper today.
The spooky thing about him finding the body is..i dreamed John died in his house a few months ago and that Mike found him. In the dream he was in the floor instead of the chair and the house was locked. At that time i asked John if anybody had a key and he said the guy next door had one. Since then I have called him when he missed Hardees to see if he was OK. I called every time and he thanked me for checking on him. But Monday i did not call. So Tuesday I insisted he call and check. Dearest Lin, Prayers go out for your neighbors family without request. But I am also putting in some extra prayers for your hubby. I know that feeling of finding a dead person. When I was five I found my father dead on the bathroom floor, a heart attack. I is a vision that I still carry with me 42 years later. Be patient with Mike. He is suffering a real big trauma. The mental kind of shock takes a long time to heal. (At least for me it did). God be with you both. Love you and God Bless Arlene
