The Serenity prayer says to accept the things I cannot change. I get defiant and try to change the things I cannot change and that is where I get into trouble and it hurts like hell. Do you have acceptance or defiance? Please let me know! Thanks-----Mistyeve

I dont remember getting actually "defiant" over anything since I was in high school. I was a bit defiant against some of my parent's decisons and rules. They told me not to go swimming in the river with my freinds, and i went anyway. I also got caught. LOL It was the attitude of they can't stop me...I'm 18 years old.
Determined? That's a milder form of defiant in some cases. I have done that as an adult. Been so determined to do something I'd do it anyway even if there was opposition. But i dont consider it to be defiant.
Acceptance is exactly what it says in the serenity prayer. Accept the things i cannot change. That included things like traffic, weather, long lines in a store, rude clerks, as well as the actions of other people. i use acceptance to keep serenity. Why get bent out of shape over a long line of traffic that may make me late for an appointment? can i CHANGE IT? nope. So relax...pray, sing with the radio, whatever it takes but dont get upset and let it ruin my day.
When i finally accepted that certain things were totally out of my control, I was a MUCH happier person.

Dear Lin----These chips deal with the extreme opposites. I think that there is probably lots of grey area in between. We claim progress not perfection! I did like your examples of acceptance. Good every day stuff that has to be delt with. Thanks for stopping by!---Mistyeve
Dear John---When I know who I am & what I am (Mistyeve-alcoholic) that goes a long way in helping me to be able to accept. I think it has to do with the 1st step "we admitted" Just my own opinions!----Mistyeve

Sorry I am late, but have had a rest day to recover from the activity of the last three days. I accepted the fact that I needed rest and didn't ignore the feeling like I often do and just keep going.
Today also was a day of accepting my defiance last night when I opted for a streak job on my new spring hairdo. Burgandy red and light brown streaks in my already light ash blonde hair does taking some getting use to.
Me with my friend Gina for brunch today for some quality time which was long overdue. Played bridge Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and followed that with shopping and having a steak dinner with my son, then coming home and my friend came over and gave me cut, color and styled hairdo. Tomorrow is the last regular play of the season for our Swiss Team Bridge Tournament which I have not been able to attend due to my health, so it will be good to get back, especially since they are having a pizza party too. Tuesday and Thursday are my regular bridge night with my partner Elmer and I have booked Bridge on Wednesday and hopefully next Saturday with my friend Michael, so you can see I have been busy.
School will be starting soon and this may mean me not being able to get to the site as often as I would like.
Thank you for letting me share.

Dear Caressa----I like what you said about "I have to accept my defiance" The consequences can be real rough. Your hair sounds like it is a rainbow! It feels good to have a change sometimes. Good luck on your tournaments and stop by when ever ya can! Thanks---Mistyeve
