I had a phone interview for a new job. She wanted me to know 2-3 different computer languages. I told her I had over 20 years of office experience but that meant nothing to her and she told me I wouldn't be eligible for the in person interview. Wow! an interview for an interview!!! I guess I have to accept that but it seems prejudice and unfair but hey that is a whole other chip! Do you have acceptance or defiance???? Please let me know!----Mistyeve

Morning Mistyeve,
Acceptance/defiance
Ouch !!! Prior to recovery let's just say I was a pretty defiant little SOB. My way or the highway. Now in recovery I WORK at acceptance to maintain my serenity. There are several things that I am not fond of which would have triggered me off big time but not I have learned to accept them. Doesn't mean I like them, or agree with them just accept them. Acceptance has opened my eyes to the fact that there may be different options different priorities. It has given me a new prespective on life and reality.
Love & God Bless Arlene
PS Don't be discouraged Misty phone interviews are a way of screening all the people who want to apply for a particular job. It cuts down on the time that the personnel manager has to sit and do "live" interviews. Is it fair? Not sure. But for me I would rather present myself in person and voice my own talents. Another thing I was thinking about... if this is how the company is treating a potential new employee , how is is going to be working for them 10 years from now? Just my humble opinion.

I agre with arlene. If they really wanted a person with 20 years experience and not much computer knowledge, they probably woudl have called you in. And they probably woudl ahve been worse of a stickler than the FORD place.
Acceptance? I love this tool. It has helepd me accept life on life's terms. It helped me know what was my business to control or change and what was up to another person. I dont have to LIKE something to accept it. I dont have to approve of somethig to accept it. I jsut accept that this is how it is and it's nto up to me to lose sleep over it.
I am definitely on the acceptance side of this chip. It helps em let go of lots of STUFF that would be boggin me down.
LIN
PS...i had a thought about your problems posting at EOR. A couple of weeks ago PROBOARDS did a fancy upgrade. If i remember correctly you use WEB TV. i bet they settings are now different and they may not be as supportive of WEB TV users ast he old baords were. I get things all the time that say I need a certain thing to open it or to look at it. And my computer is only a year old andhas XP. So i bet WEB TV is the difference. i have no problem at all replying to a post. Have you tried doing the column from a computer? I really look forward to your column each day and hope you can work out the bugs. ((((hugs))))

Acceptance doesn't mean I have to like it. If I become defiant and not accept things as they are, then I need to accept the pain that goes along with that choice.
Perhaps you should look into some computer training Misty, that is why I went back to school, to upgrade my skills. Not much happening in the world without computer knowledge, I found that out when I tried to go back to school with 22 years experience.

Hey Caressa----You are absolutely right about getting more computer training. I just hate the idea of going back to school. I would rather sit here and complain about it!!! LOL at least I freely admit it so that is progress. Thanks for stopping by----Mistyeve

My Very Dear Arlene----I LOVE what ya said about if the job is treating me like a cattle call now then how would I be treated a year from now??? Good question!!! You are not just another pretty face!! You got a brain! I don't like this at all but I do have to accept that is just the way it is! Thanks for stopping by!---Mistyeve
Dear Lin---Yeah acceptance is a very good tool for dealing with life on life's terms. I think you may be on to something with that up grade thing. I did have a computer and I couldn't understand it and the mother board got ate up by diseases. I was a major pain in the neck!!! Oh well I will have to surrender to the inevitable and think about a computer literacy class. Thanks for stopping by HOney! I am so glad you like the column--Mistyeve
