I am grateful for this program and for the good health that I have been experiencing in the last few months.
On Wednesday, I went to the funeral of a very good friend, a woman who I use to sponsor back when I had six years in the program. She passed away at the age of 51 from cancer. If I hadn't known she was the one lying in the casket, I wouldn't have recognized her.
The word gratitude reminds me of something a spiritual advisor told me a long time ago. A grateful alcoholic will never have a 'reason' to pick up. There can be lots of excuses, but no reason to make that choice to die.

If that's true, I wish my husband were more grateful. He doesn't pick up very often these days, but I'd love for it to be NEVER. LOL
I agree that gratitude can really help me find peace and serenity. It helps me accept and enjoy what I have today. It keeps me from dwelling on the past and obsessing about the future. it really can get me off the pity pot FAST.
