Faith ~ Hope ~ Love May the kingdom of justice prevail! May the believers be united in love! May the hearts of the believers be humble, high on their wisdom, And may they be guided in their wisdom by the Lord. Glory be to God! Entrust unto the Lord what thou wishest to be accomplished. The Lord will bring all matters to fulfillment. Know this as truth evidenced by Himself.
--Guru Nanak, early sixteenth -century Sikh prophet

The God of love my shepherd is, And he that doth me feed: While he is mine, and I am his, What can I want or need?
He leads me to the tender grass, Where I both feed and rest; Then to the streams that gently pass: In both I have the best.
Surely Thy sweet and wondrous love Shall measure all my days: And as it never shall remove, So neither shall my praise. The Yearbook of Love and Wisdom: - Celia Haddon

God Knows How"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." - - Matt.19:26 God knows how to become blossoms and fruit on the tree. I don't But God knows. God knows how to keep the stars and the planets secure in their courses, to regulate the tides and seasons in a perfect plan. God knows how to produce unlimited power out of the rocks of the earth as oil and atomic power: and out of the heavens as electricity and solar power. No man can fathom God's work. Only the Infinite understands. God knows how to join two cells and produce a beautiful little body complete to the last detail. No man can reproduce Life; but, God creates and maintains His creation according to a plan so magnificent that it is beyond the vision of man to behold the glory of it. God knows how to turn food into blood and flesh and bones, how to constantly create new body cells and supply the muscles with strength. We know this happens but we cannot understand this miracle. I now release all my problems to Him who knows how to solve them and say with Jesus, "of myself I can do nothing, the Father within me doeth the works." Oh how beautifully He does them. I surrender my life completely to God, the only Power and the only Presence. And so it is.

Friendship (Nar-Anon Style)
Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, Having neither to weigh thoughts, Nor measure words - but pouring them All right out - just as they are - Chaff and grain together - Certain that a faithful hand will Take and sift them - Keep what is worth keeping - And with the breath of kindness Blow the rest away.

THE DOORMy loneliness was a horror, that made me want to die. I didn't have anyone, anything, a dying soul was I. I walked the streets in shame and filth..not caring anymore, Then through some sort of miracle, I found my way through that door. It opened very heavily at first, and I was still so full of thirst. Thirst for love and friends and booze, How did I get here, I did not choose. As I came and came, the door swung lighter, I began to feel I was a fighter. Though very much in a different way, You finally gave me strength to pray. In all my very lonely travels, trying to chase and climb the steeples, By the Grace of God I got here and found people helping people. Although that door swings lightly today, I must remember to reach out and pray. For each day now is a different thirst , I must remember how heavy that door was at first. love ya all, Dorrie

WonderingWhy? Why do I feel this way? Why do I feel so alone So different, So seperate. I know I am not different Unique in my own journey, Yet not so unique in my differences From others who have travelled this journey. Today I feel alone. Is it my own seperateness. Am I isolating my spirit as well as my body? I share with others Yet seem apart. No one close Am I looking for acceptance Validation for who I am? Is it my right? I am comfortable with me Or so I thought. Yet why this feeling of being alone. No one caring... No one sharing... No one showing any interest in what I do. Is it the ego? Is it the pride? Why have all the words dried up inside? How do I get them out? Express all the pain and the sorrow Letting you know how much I hurt To heal, to let go, to live and to dare to dream Of a better tomrrow A better day with hope Someone to love Someone who loves Someone who knows Someone who shares Someone who cares. Love Always, Butterfly (Caressa)

THE SERENITY PRAYERGOD... With the saying of this word, I am admitting the existence of a Higher Power; a being far greater than I. [size=5GRANT[/size]... With the repeating of this second word, I am admitting that a Higher Power is an authority who can bestow and give. ME... I am asking something for myself. If I ask, I shall be given. It is not wrong to ask for betterment of myself, for with the improvement of my character, people around me will be made happier. the SERENITY... I am asking for calmness, composure and peace in my life which will enable me to think straight and govern myself properly. to ACCEPT..... I am resigning myself to conditions as they are right now, rather than fight for how I want them to be. the THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE... I am accepting my lot in life as it is. Until I have the courage to change any part of my life I don't like, I must accept it without resentment. COURAGE... I am asking for conditions to be different, and for me to have the faith I need to make the changes in myself. to CHANGE... I am asking for a quality of spirit to become aware of those things I do that do not serve me in my recovery. the THINGS I CAN... I am asking for my Higher Power's guidance in making the right decisions. Everything in my life is not perfect, I must continue to face reality and constantly work towards continued growth and recovery. WISDOM.... I am asking HP to give me the ability to form sound judgments in any and all matters. to KNOW... I want to be able to understand clearly and see the reality in any situation. the DIFFERENCE... I want to see things differently in my life so there can be some distinction. I need to sense a definite value in love over selfishness, where my will gets in the way of my Higher Power's will.

Dear God, I am powerless and my life is unmanageable without your help and guidance. I come to you today because I believe that You can restore and anew me to meet my needs today. Since I cannot manage my life and affairs, I have decided to give them to You. I put my life, my will, my thoughts, my desires and ambitions in Your hands. I give You all of me: the good and the bad, the character defects and shortcomings, my selfishness, resentments and problems. I know that You will work them out in accordance with Your plan. Such as I am, take and use me in Your service. Guide and direct my ways and show me what to do for You. I cannot control or change my friends or loved ones, so I release them into Your care for Your loving hands to do with as You will. Just keep me loving and free from judging them. If they need changing, God You'll have to do it; I can't. Just make me willing and ready to be of service to You, to have my shortcomings removed, and to do my best. Help me to see how I have harmed others and make me willing to make amends to them all. Keep me ever mindful of thoughts and actions that harm myself and others, and which separate me from Your light, love and spirit. And when I commit these errors, make me aware of them and help me to admit each one promptly. I am seeking to know You better, to love You more. I am seeking the knowledge of Your will for me and the power to carry it out. Lord, teach me patience, and remind me that it is hard work, but well worth the labor. Guide me in all I do to remember that waiting is the answer to some of my prayers, and that when I need You, You will be there to help me. - - Amen

Don't QuitWhen things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up, though the pace seems slow - You might succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt - And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit - It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit. - Author Unknown -

The following were received from Al-Anon, yet some are taken from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. I am sure that no matter what fellowship you call home, you will be able to utilize them in your own life.
Step One:
Today, I ask for help with my "ism" Denial has kept me from seeing how powerless I am and how my life is unmanageable.
I need to learn and remember that I have an incurable illness and that acceptance is the only way to deal with it.
Step Two:
I pray for an open mind so I may come to believe ins a Power greater than myself.
I pray for humility and the continued opportunity to increase my faith.
I don't want to be crazy anymore.
Step Three:
God, I offer myself to Thee To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt Relieve me of the bondage of self That I may better do Thy will Take away my difficulties, That victory over them my bear witness To those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy will always!
Step Four:
Dear God,
It is I who have made my life a mess.
I have done it, but I cannot undo it.
My mistakes are mine, and I will begin a searching and fearless moral inventory.
I will write down my wrongs, but Ill also include that which is good.
I pray for the strength to complete this task.
Step Six:
Dear God,
I am ready for Your help in removing from me the defects of character which I now realize are an obstacle to my recovery.
Help me to continue being honest with myself and guide me toward spiritual and mental health.
Step Seven:
My Creator,
I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad.
I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows.
Grant me strength, as I go out from here to do your bidding. Amen.
Step Eight:
Higher Power,
I ask Your help in making my list of all those I have harmed.
I will take responsibility for my mistakes, and be forgiving to others as You are forgiving to me.
Grant me the willingness to begin my restitutions. This I pray.
Step Nine:
Higher Power,
I pray for the right attitude to make my amends, being ever mindful not to harm others in the process.
I ask for Your guidance in making indirect amends. Most important, I will continue to make amends by staying abstinent, helping others, and growing in spiritual progress.
Step Ten:
I pray I may continue:
To grow in understanding and effectiveness; To take daily spot check inventories of myself; To correct mistakes when I make them' To take responsibility for my actions; To be ever aware of my negative and self-defeating attitudes and behaviors; To keep my willfulness in check; To always remember I need Your help; To keep love and tolerance of others as my code; And to continue in daily prayer how I can best serve You, my Higher Power.
Step Eleven:
I pray to keep my connection with You open and clear from the confusion of daily life.
Through my prayers and meditation, I ask especially for freedom from self-will, rationalization, and wishful thinking.
I pray for the guidance of correct thought and positive action.
Your will, Higher Power, not mine, be done.
Step Twelve:
Dear God,
My spiritual awakening continues to unfold.
The help I have received, I shall pass on and give to others, both in and out of the Fellowship.
For this opportunity, I am grateful.
I pray most humbly to continue walking day by day on the road of spiritual progress.
I pray for the inner strength and wisdom to practice the principles of this way of life in all I do and say.
I need You, my friends, and Program every hour of every day.
This is a better way of life.
I will to will your will, not mine be done. Amen!

missing Step 5
Fifth Step Prayer Higher Power, My inventory has shown me who I am, yet I ask for Your help in admitting my wrongs to another person & to You. Assure me, & be with me, in this Step, for without this Step I cannot progress in my recovery. With Your help, I can do this & I will do it.

Reason ~ Season ~ LifetimePeople come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met,our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway), and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
