A is for awareness. I need to know what area of my life no longer serves me in today in order to change it.

D is for DEPRESSION...I see many people (From both sides of the hallway) who have depression at some tiem of another. I think it is a part of the disease. So our recovery has to include ways to deal with depression.

E is for Everything. When I asked what I had to change, I was told everything! I had to change friends, habits, patterns, thinking, actions, and most of all me. My sponsor said, "Clean up your mouth, your appearance, and act. If you have recovery, show it!"

F is for FELLOWSHIP. I think the part of recovery called FELLOWSHIP is awesome. It is the chatter before and after the meetings...it is going out for lunch or coffee...it is making of receivng a phone call. It is lifelong freind we make at our meetings.

I is for Imagination. I have a magic, magnifying mind that can blow things out of proportion. It is good to imagine the postive and know it is a goal, something to aim for, not necessarily a reality but something to work toward. Are my dreams big enough?

j is for JUSTIFY...I used to JUSTIFY my actions by blaming the actions of others. Today I take responsibility for my own actions. I dont have to justify.

N is for Now. When I live in the now, nothing can stand between me and my Higher Power, unless I let my thinking (fear, anger, resentment, envy, jealousy, etc.) get in the way and block His Grace from getting to me.

P is for Pride. Not the false pride of my disease, but true pride in myself. The gifts of self-esteem, self-worth, self-awareness, self-respect. etc. received through my Higher Power by working the Steps of the program.

R is for Requirement. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using. You are a member when you say you are. Remembering that keeps me coming so I don't have to come back.
