I for Insanity
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
~Albert Einstein
I guess it took what it took. I'm grateful, today, I went through what ever I had to go through to get sick and tired of the insanity.

L is for Listening
Listening is such a simple act. It requires us to be present, and that takes practice, but we don't have to do anything else. We don't have to advise, or coach, or sound wise. We just have to be willing to sit there and listen.
~Margaret J. Wheatley
I truly believe this is something I'll have to practice for a long, long, long time. This quote is right, sometimes people just need me to listen.

M is for Me. Recovery must start with me. It isn't about who I am pointing the finger at. It isn't about the other people in my life, recovery starts and ends with me. I need to look at me and deal with the 'isms' (I, self and me) of my disease. Attachments:

The choice is ours: Which do we want more of?”

O is for Order
"Order and Chaos are not enemies, only opposites."
Anytime I'm working with someone on there First Step, the chaos that was in my life comes flooding back to the front of my mind. And when I get down, I have great friends who will help me to remember how blessed I am.
I'm not saying the home I live in is in order, but my life, thanks to my Higher Power and A. A. has some order to it. And I may be able to keep this order, so long as I do what I've been taught. "Don't take a drink, go to meetings, talk to sponsor, practice these principles and pass it on."

P is for Patience. In early recovery, I was always asking for patience and tolerance as a topic. The people in my life didn't undersand my disease and I had to realize that I had broken their trust and it would take a while to get it back. I had to be patient with them and with myself. Attachments:

Q is for: "Don't Quit" Success is failure turned inside out-- The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-- It's when things seem worst that you must not Quit. - Author unknown For the entire poem: www.thedontquitpoem.com/thePoem.htm

R is for Rejection. Even though I have felt that way many times in the past, I know that my Higher Power is always with me. I am never alone. I needed to reject things that would take me back to where I came from. I need to embrace the goodness that the program offered me in order to recover. Attachments:

T is for Time
"Time takes Time"
"Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived."
