God's Plan

When we look around us today, we know that the persons in our midst need our best, and they're not there by accident but by Divine appointment. We can offer them the best we have - acceptance, love, support, our prayers, and we can know that is God's plan for our lives and theirs, - Karen Casey

This is the part of today's reading from Each Day A New Beginning that spoke to me. It is something I firmly believe in, that people are put in my paths and things happen and are all part of the Grand Theme of things and not always about me. It doesn't just happen. Often I wonder why, and although I may question, I find myself for the most part accepting, even if I don't like it.

The world isn't about me and it isn't always my lesson, although it often is, it could be the other person's need to know and none of my business.

What I need to remember for me is that my son has his own Higher Power and it isn't me. For many years, my life revolved around him and he was my purpose for living. Thanks to recovery, I have been able to take him out of that position and pt myself in the center with my Higher Power directing my life instead of me.

God does answer prayer. My son has been granted an extension and won't have to come and stay with me for 10 days. He could go away to treatment as early as Saturday if not sooner, but could be early next week. He is at the top of the list and when the next bed is available, it is his.

So grateful that he found the willingness this time around. I knew recovery couldn't come from me. I gave him a copy of the prayers for the 12 Steps and his sponsor told him he didn't need them. They were okay to have, but he had to find his own way. I gave them to him because he doesn't seem to have much faith and told him, if you can't pray yourself, these will help.

Need this reminder today. It is so good to have my computer back up and running so I can come here and fill up on some spiritual food.
