This is a spiritual program. It isn't a religious one. My religious beliefs enhances my spiritual beliefs and my spiritual beliefs enhances my religious beliefs. I was one of those who had faith and lost it. I had to make God personal and it was hard to seperate the religious dogma from the healing spiritual concepts. eor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=spuds&action=display&thread=8565&page=1Today's reading reminds me that I need to believe in something even if it is a belief that I can change and become a better me with the help of the people in the rooms of recovery. For so many, the power is their hope group and grows from there. It may still be the group, but as I got to know the members, I could see all the goodness in them and I found myself reflected in them. The saying, "For every finger you point at someone, you have three coming back at you" isn't always a negative. It can reflect goodness as well as an awareness of a defect of character. Attachments:

just a neighborly visit from across the hall.... Like you I enjoyed today's reading... On my journey, I've come full circle. I came to agreement, "I can't, God can and I am going to let him"... God understands my prayers even when we can't find the words to express them. Better than that, He listens patiently to my requests for strength and patience and gives me the tools to assist me in learning the lesson and growing my own strength to overcome what ever the obstacles in my path.... Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Good to remember, look for the goodness as well as the not so good. Sometimes we focus so much on what is wrong, we miss out on the blessings of what is right.

You are reading from the book Twenty Four Hours a Day Hardcover (24 Hours)
A.A. Thought for the Day
Some people find it hard to believe in a Power greater than themselves. But not to believe in such a Power forces us to atheism. It has been said that atheism is blind faith in the strange proposition that this universe originated in a cipher and aimlessly rushes nowhere. That's practically impossible to believe. I think we all can agree that alcohol is a power greater than ourselves. It certainly was in my case. I was helpless before the power of alcohol. Do I remember the things that happened to me because of the power of alcohol?
Meditation for the Day
The spiritual and moral will eventually overcome the material and unmoral. That is the purpose and destiny of the human race. Gradually the spiritual is overcoming the material in our minds. Gradually the moral is overcoming the unmoral. Faith, fellowship, and service are cures for most of the ills of the world. There is nothing in the field of personal relationships that they cannot do.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may do my share in making a better world. I pray that I may be part of the cure for the ills of the world.
