As they say in meetings, the last letter of the words 'Just For Today' spells Try.
If at first you don't succeed, try, and try again.
We live this program with the thought that just for today, I am not going to use. I am willing to go to any length, not to pick up in today.
To try, and fail is not the issue. It is the not trying that blocks us from recovery and staying clean.
Many times we try the easier softer way. Or we get rigid in our mind set and not willing to try other ideas or try the suggestions given to us at meetings and by our sponsor. We are asked to get honest, to open our minds and to be willing to stay clean just for today.
We don't have to do it alone. Isolation is part of my dis-ease not my recovery. For so many years, I looked for something outside of myself to make me feel better. When I put as much effort into my recovery as I did trying to score, con and procure my drug of choice when I was using, I will succeed. I found I didn't have to put in half the effort, because I didn't have to do it alone. I had the fellowship and the Higher Power that I found as a result of working the Steps.
Please stay! Don't leave until the miracle happens. Try!

a most excellent share Caressa....
I don't usually poke my head into NA/AA as I do not qualify, but every now and then I have to give my 2 cents on a given topic.
“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow.” -- Mary Anne Radmacher Many of us who came into recovery, stumbled in the beginning. But the important part is to pick ourselves up and try again. We get a brand new chance each and every day....
This is an honest program and most importantly we have to get honest with ourselves. Nothing worthwhile ever happens by chance, it takes work and effort on our part. My God, can and will help me through this journey, but I am the one responsible for the heavy lifting of making changes in my life. It's one day at a time and sometimes just moments at a time, but change takes time and a whole lot of trying on our part....
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Knew I had to get back here, and had to pray on it, because my hands were bad and my tremon makes it difficult to type some days. I need the spiritual food that I find here. As the post says, "All I have to do is try."
