Love how they compared learning to trust with planting a garden.
It is indeed something that came slowly for me. For the most part, I will trust you until you prove me wrong. Then my problem begins, I have trouble forgiving someone who breaks my trust. Often it isn't about what was said but how it was said and done. People knew me for a 50 mile radius when I was using, so I don't care who knows I am sober. It is the false rumors, petty jealousies, ego trips, the game playing, the looking for attention, the putting down of others to make themselves feel good, etc., especially if the person is in program, and claims to have recovery.
We are human. That is why there are Steps Six and Seven. Many people say, "Well I am not there yet, I am only on Sept Two. What I don't understand is why would someone still want to continue to act out in their disease when they know there is a better way of living. I went to Step Discussion meetings and learned about these Steps and though I hadn't gotten there, I worked them to the best of my ability. They did make me aware. Perhaps as my sponsor said, "You are too hard on yourself."
Love how it says if we plant our trust, nurture it, we become like the blossom that is grown. As I learned to trust my Higher Power, I learned to trust myself, and through His Goodness, I learned to trust others.
