I saw a while back a story written about alcohol being your mistress/lover...it was fairly lengthy, but very good. Anyone have it, or can point me to it? THANKS!

Hi ByAThread I did some poking around. I couldn't find anything on the message boards for the story that you are looking for. But the only place that I could think of where there might be a lengthy story is on the Recovery Stories page. As you come to the main page for EOR there are several links there. The chat room, the message boards, and one of them is for recovery stories. Click that link. It will bring up another page full of titles of stories that you may read. Hope you find what you are looking for. God Bless Arlene

Not sure if this is the story (poem) you are looking for, but thought it was worth sharing anyway..... SG
Death By the Fifth #2 by Sandi L Schraut
Alcoholism is a terrible mistress
Tonight was the night I waited To see how much I counted Tonight I found out I didn’t Or not as I was hoping
I longed to hear your voice Sing to me on the wind I longed to feel your warmth Inside my head, inside my heart.
Your warmth never came Instead all I got was cold. I guess her warmer liquid love Meant much, much, more to you
I know she keeps you warm And daily you hold her close In your hand you touch/caress her Then inhale her into your heart
Her warmth has made you cry But you still want her amber joy Her love has made you sick And still you need her comfort
I needed your warmth as well You deny my due, deny your heat! I live alone in comfortless cold? While you hold her so intimate?
Oh that glass bottle is a tease Gives you false security and hope I offered much, much more But abandoned am I!
Maybe some day you will know Just what you were throwing away So that liquid love can possess you A love that’s death one fifth At a time.

Hi Dg.... I found, "I am your disease" and a couple others.... Wow, after reading these, it gives me a renewed respect for those that are clean and sober today. SG
____________________________________________
Hello, I am your Disease I Hate meetings...I Hate higher powers...I Hate anyone who has a program. To all who come in contact with me, I wish you death and I wish you suffering. Allow me to introduce myself, I am the disease of addiction. I Am cunning, baffling, and powerful. That's Me. I have killed millions and I am pleased.
I love to catch you with the element of suprise. I love pretending I am your friend and lover. I have given you comfort, haven't I? Wasn't I there when you were lonely? When you wanted to die, didn't you call on me? I was there, I love to make you hurt. I love to make you cry. Better yet, I Love to make you so numb you can neither hurt nor cry. When you can't feel anything at all. This is true gratification. And all that I ask from you is long term suffering. I've been there for you always.
When things were going right in your life, you invited me. You said you didn't deserve these good things, and I was the only one who would agree with you. Together we were able to destroy all the good things in your life. People don't take me seriously. They take strokes seriously, heart attacks, even diabetes, they take seriously. Fools. Without my help these things would not be possible. I am such a hated disease, and yet I do not come uninvited. You choose to have me. So many have chosen me over reality and peace.
More than you hate me, I hate all of you who have a 12 step program. Your program, Your meeting, Your higher power. All of these things weaken me, and I can't function in the manner I am accustomed to. Now I must lie here quietly. You don't see me but I am growing bigger than ever. When you only exist, I may live. When you live I may only exist. But I am here...
And until we meet again, If we meet again, I wish you death and suffering.

My name is Cocaine
My name is Cocaine - call me Coke for short. I entered this country without a passport. Ever since then I've made lots of scum rich. Some have been murdered and found in a ditch. I'm more valued than diamonds, more treasured than gold. Use me just once and you too will be sold.
I'll make a schoolboy forget his books. I'll make a beauty queen forget her looks. I'll take renowned speaker and make a bore. I'll take a mother and make here a sleeper. I'll make a schoolteacher forget how to teach. I'll make a preacher not want to preach. I'll take all your rent money and you'll get evicted. I'll murder your babies or they'll be born addicted. I'll make you rob and steal and kill.
When you're under my power you have no will. Remember my friend my name is " Big C ". If you try me just one time you may never be free. I've destroyed actors, politicians and many a hero. I've decreased bank accounts from millions to zero. I make shooting and stabbing a common affair. Once I take charge you won't have a prayer. Now that you know me what will you do ? You'll have to decide, It's all up to you. The day you agree to sit in my saddle. The decision is one that no one can straddle. Listen to me, and please listen well. When you ride with cocaine you are headed for hell !!!

Testimony of an Addict
So now, Little Man, you've grown tired of grass, L.S.D., goof balls, cocaine, and hash; and someone pretending to be a true friend said, "I'll introduce you to Miss Heroin."
Well honey, before you start fooling with me just let me inform you of how it will be, for I will seduce you and make you my slave; I've sent men much stronger than you to their graves.
You think you could never become a disgrace and end up addicted to poppy seed waste. So you'll start inhaling me one afternoon, you'll take me into your arms very soon.
And once I have entered deep into your veins the craving will drive you wildly insane. You'll need lots of money (as you have been told); for darling, I'm much more expensive than gold.
You'll swindle your mother, and just for a buck, you'll turn into something vile and corrupt. You'll mug and you'll steal for my narcotic charm, and feel contentment when I'm in your arm.
The day when you realize the monster you've grown you'll solemly promise to leave me alone. If you think that you've got the mystical knack, then, Sweetie, just try and get me off your back.
The vomit, the cramps, your gut tied into a knot, the jangling nerves screaming for just one more shot. The hot chills and cold sweat, the withdrawal pains, can only be saved by my little white grains.
There's no other way, there's no need to look, for deep down inside, you'll know that you are hooked. You'll desperately run to the pusher, and then, you'll welcome me back to your arms once again.
And when you return (just as I foretold), I know that you'll give me your body and soul. You'll give up your morals, your conscience, your heart and you will be mine until Death do us part.

Your Friend - The Enemy
I want to be with you, Everywhere you go. I want you to give me, To all that you know.
I don't cost much, For just one line. But pay for more of me, And you'll really feel fine.
You may lose your family, And you don't need a friend. Cause I'll be your partner, Until the very end.
You will lose your appetite, Sleep and self esteem, But those things are not quite, As important as they seem.
I will change your life, Maybe bring you death, That's what I am here for, I am Crystal Meth.
