The Serenity Prayer has guided me thru some really tough situations in my recovery. It's allowed me to take time out and take control of my life. A simple, but beautiful prayer!

Amen Sunnygirl, Serenity Prayer is short, sweet and tells it all!
Yesterday was like any other Friday for me, got home from work, usually have dinner around 5-6pm, then go to my Al-Anon at 730pm. Well this day, my wife was suppose to go to the AA right next door (same location, different room) at a church. She's been to this group and she liked the group. However, when I got home, I immediately noticed my wife is WELL on her way getting drunk. ARRGGGHHHH!!! So frustrating to me, and I had to say something...I had to talk....I couldn't keep my thoughts to myself. Well, I went to my Al-Anon meeting (without my wife) and low & behold the chair person chooses "Detachment" for the night's topic! Couldn't have planned that better! I got SO much from that meeting last night, I was able to come home and look at my wife with detachment with love. Praise God!

Hi kserenityk,
Thanks for sharing.....
I am always amazed, HE gives me everything I need! Not always what I ask for, thank God for unanswered prayers. Detach with love, has always been one day at a time for me. Just as I begin to let go, I make that final attempt to FIX my addicted loved ones. Yep, this program works if we work it....
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

This week I had a meeting at work the night of my meeting and I missed it. By next MOnday I will be READY for a meeting!
Thanks for stopping in! Please keep posting.

The nice thing is you can't wear it out. I certainly have tested it the last little while. Still have no computer, now I am wondering if I should get it fixed. I am losing my sight. Go for a further checkup today, and then my eye doctor is referring me to the doctor who preformed my surgery 15 months ago. I can't even see the big E on the eye chart without my glasses with my left eye. It is a good thing I can type without looking! My meditation yesterday was give thanks, it is already on it's way. It does work.

It is hard to believe that this was 7 years ago. I have my sight, had laser surgery and now I only need $1. Store reading glasses. If I am not mistaken, there is a line in the AA literature that says, "Though we see through a glass darkly,..." through the program and the God of our understanding, things change and we can see things in a different light. Perhaps I am mixing the thought up with this verse from the Bible. Still using the Serenity Prayer and it brings me peace daily.

The Serenity Prayer is still working for me in today. Have dry eye which has caused a lot of blurred vision. Can't read like I use to, but my God and I are getting through it.

When all else fails say the Serenity Prayer. If you can't remember the words, say what you do remember. If all else fails, say "Help!"
