I was at a meeting tonite and the question was asked why do we do it? Everything is going good in my life today. This kind of bothers me. All through my life, trouble seems to always be on the horizon. I'm not content when, my life goes good. LOL I have to do something to screw it up. So far so good. The say there are such unfortunates doesn't have to apply to any of us. As long as i get up in the morning and admit i'm an alcoholic and accept it for tha day, I've got a good chance of making it through the day sober. Maybe, it's the fact that, I've been keeping a costant contact with a higher power the one and only that created us. i truely am grateful today. I'm grateful to be able to share this. Chris

Hi Chris, Tiger.... I know for sure what ya mean, sorta like the lull before the storm right? Was raised here in West Texas and ya know before a tornado hits everything is eerily still. Then the storm hits! That is the way I get sometimes when I feel too good and things are all going my way. Today everything is going great, and I enjoy that. I know that my life sometimes seems boring as to what it used to be, but I can deal with that today. I guess this is what 'normal' people live with most of their lives. Am just so grateful to appreciate the 'lull' in my life now. Inside my spirit is calm and quiet and I know I will be protected if I just stay in constant conscious contact with my protector.
Love and light, Brenda

Was sharing today how we sabatoge ourselves when things are good or not so good in our life.
For me it was about self worth. I deserve recovery.
Like you say, I need to get up in the morning, ask for help through out the day, and give thanks at night. As you say an attitude of gratitude will get me through. A grateful alcoholic will never pick up as my sponsor told me many years ago.
In today, I apply Step 10. If something from my past come up, then I need to do Steps 4-9. Many things that happened in today still had roots that were grounded in my past and I had to uproot them and sever them.
Each day is a new beginning. We can change the old ways of thinking and uproot those old tapes, behaviors, and habits, and learn to live anew in today.

Have found that a lot of people get bored. They don't know what to do with themselves. They have trouble being alone with themselves and their skin doesn't fit. We need to find new hobbies and interests. We need to love and accept ourselves. We are sick people trying to get well, not bad people trying to get good.
