My sponsor celebrated his 28th year in the program last night.
The speaker is the sponcee of his (also an old fa*t).
My gawd, do I ever want whatever drugs they are on!!!!
The speaker had earned numerous degrees from several universities.
He held a doctorate (not honorary) in physics.
Buit what he said enlightened me to no end. "Keeping it simple" is not just a metaphor or something for "small-minded people."
It speaks directly to those that like to "pick things apart." The ones, such as myself, that have a propensity to pick things apart until there is no final answer.
"Keeping it Simple" isn't just a master plan for those such as myself; it is a neccessity.

Keeping it simple alot of times means to let it happen without my divine knowledge of how it should work.
I could make black > white in my mind but why try. Keep it simple does not mean to be simple. does not make you lazy it just makes things more easier to do

*nodding*
As a kindred soul, one who has a sponsor that literally shudders when I say "I just need to figure it out", I 'get' that my intellect is great, but my need to 'figure it out' is a disaster in the making..LOL

[ I have said so many times the common thread that the real AA 0ldtimers had was they knew how to work a simple program........like in "Utilize, Don't Analyze".......like in "Get Honest With Yourself, Go to Meetings and Don't take That First Drink"

Keeping it simple was always my downfall before when I tried to stay sober. I had to analyze it all to pieces to see how it worked, why I should, yada yada yada. I was 'blessed' by being led to death and some brain damage only to be brought back to where I am simple and take it only one day at a time. Today keeping it simple to stay sober means, if I don't take that first drink I won't get drunk. Stayin in close contact with the Higher Power I have found keeps me in check.
Love and Light, Brenda

Strange, wonder how I missed this. I was terrible at simple. I wanted to rationalize and justify everything. Famous last words, that doesn't work for me. I don't do that. Well you better or you will drink again and all that follow. Just for today I choose not to use people, places, and things. Don't pick up.
