In order to walk into the world of freedom, we must go through the door of abstinence. We need not fear the pains of withdrawal. Growth is often painful. Many have gone before us and report that the eventual freedom is well worth the temporary suffering. Our Higher Power will give us the strength to endure and will never push us farther than we can go. When we are tempted to give in, a prayer and a phone call can save us.
Lead us into freedom, we pray.
- Food for ThoughtHave put on weight over the holiday, which compounded with the weight I put on the last three months, means I need to do so much more abstaining from things I want and look more at what I need. I have been guilty of looking in my fridge and cupboard and saying, I don't want what I have, don't feel like cooking it, and taking the easier softer way, reaching for a loaf of bread or going out and buying something, which is not always healthy in the preporation, portion or sugar content. I would like to add, only a computer away as well. I know if I come here and read old posts, I get the spiritual food I need to fill up any emptyness I may feel. I need to pray and ask my God to help me change my way of thinking. Attachments:

I sat in a coffee shop the otehr day with a friend sho looked at a tee shirt with the slogan "Freedom isn't free". My friend said she didn't understand. I asked her to look at the picture that went with the slogan.. The picture was of a soldier kneeling at the grave of a fallen comrade.
The price of freedom, for him, the price of the many lives lost in the wars fought for freedom. The price of freedom for us is in waving the flag of surrenderr, putting the shovel down, admitting defeat, sharing our secets, becoming vulnerable, opening ourselves up to others, sharing and caring so that we can encouarge and suport one another. When we surrender...We do win!!!!
When we win we are then free to grow...Yes, growth is painful. Suffering is optional. However, we grow together...We are not alone on this journey. We are free to reach out to others.. We are free to ask for help. We are free to reach up. We are free to become more than we ever dreamt possible.

How true, I have been thinking lately of what my addiction cost me and how much I lost out on as a result of my choices in life. Not only the money that was spent, but all the lost opportunities and moments that slipped by and I was unaware. So many times, isolated in my own space, completely oblivious to what was going on in the world around me.

Have been feeling irresponsible since I have been in the hospital. Yet in reality, i have been powerless, I can only do hat I can do with what is available to me. My God has powered me and I know He will continue to do so.
