Hello everyone. My name's Robin and i'm a recovering alcoholic. I'm one of the "peeps" who's been trolling this site.
I have close to 100 days sober. All of my recovery has been done online. Most people have frowned on this way of recovery. All i can say is, it has worked for me and that's all that matters, right!
I also live with a practicing alcoholic. We've been together for 20 years. I just can't walk away now that i'm getting sober. I feel i've been dealing with it pretty good. There are only a few times i get irratated with her.
I want to learn more about Al-anon. I tried to get into your meeting lastnight 3 different times, but to no avail. Would someone tell me what i'm doing wrong? I feel like such an idiot.
Thanks for being here. ROBIN

Hi Robin, Good to see you here. I don't know where your problem was getting into the meeting, but here's some general directions. Go to www.essence-of-recovery.com/page3.htmlenter your user name (leave the password blank) and click on Enter Chat. (If you have a popup stopper program installed on your PC you may need to turn that off in order to get Chat to come up.) You should see the chat window come up (i can't remember but it may first pop up a window asking whether to install and run the chat program, if so just click OK). Let us know if you still have problems and we'll try to help.

Thanks Jim. I do have a popup blocker. I'll have to try again and see if it works. The screen i got said to do what you told me to do. But there was no place to login in.
Anyways, thanks again for getting back to me. I really would like to meet the group members.

Nice to meet you, Robin--welcome! Alcoholic, addict, child of an alcoholic, parent of an alcoholic/addict.....oy......I think I meet the criteria for a whole lotta things.....LOL....including overall silly person! I do hope that Jim's tips get you into the chatroom for a meeting or two....it'll give you a chance to meet more folks in recovery. Feel free to have a wander around the board at will, pull up a chair and make yourself at home! Congratulations on the 100 days of sober time! However the message of hope is being brought to you, it's obviously working! Online recovery has been a vital part of my sobriety. I don't discount the power of the people sharing themselves with others and helping each other one day at a time. It works. I do some of whatever's offered in regards to recovery. I certainly need all the help I can get! Stick around! And congratulations again on that 100 days. Keep doing what's working, eh? *hugs* ~~graced~~

Hello Robin I am Owen alky addict and a over doer of anything that could alter my state of mind. A start is a start no matter where you start from. Today after alot of 24 hours sober I use online more than anything to maintain my sobriety. I have found over the years that there are many ways to get and stay sober. Some may say it is just staying dry and not really being sober but that is just opinion. I must say tho fellowship is the key to remaing sober in trouble times. Fellowship gives you added joy in happy times. Welcome to Essence Of Recovery Keep posting we need you for our fellowship

Hi Robin, nice to 'meet' you. Brenda here, sober alcoholic and like Graced I meet a lot of requirements for membership everywhere...LOL.
Congrats on your 100 days! A miracle, huh? I have been sober now a year on July 29. Truly amazing. I made meetings and still do, but online means so much to me in my recovery. I wouldn't want to do without either. Whatever works work it!!
I am a lil granny in Texas. Just going through a divorce.....yes, I have done just the opposite of what some suggested during the first yr of recovery. I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. I was truly blessed this past march to be there sober for the birth of my 5th and not only being there sober was a miracle, being still alive............long story. My oldest granddaughter is 14 and this 5th one is the first one I have been sober for and actually 'invited' to be there, what a gift!
My email is Tx_Rainwater@msn.com
I put that out for all in recovery, just put somethin in the subject line to let me know it is Recovery based, as a lot goes in my junkmail now, but I do check.
So glad to have you as a part of the group. Lots of good experience, strength and hope in here.....as you know, if you have been browsing/reading any length of time.
Look forward to hearing more from you.
Love and light, Brenda

Thank you so much for the big welcome. I look forward to meeting everyone in the group. After reading lots of material on Al-Aanon, i've come to the conclusion that Al-Anon is pretty much like AA. Meaning....working with my HP and doing the steps. Correct me if i'm wrong.
We don't have very many f2f Al-Anon meetings here in town. I think maybe there is one per week. I'm going to check it out.
Thanks again, for being here. ROBIN

''Hey BTW when did a kid such as myself become an old timer LOL"
Welllllllll, they told me if you stuck around and kept coming back--this would happen!
Did no one warn you, Chris? LOL
Looks good on ya! But I gotta admit, first time I heard that in reference to me around the tables, I set out to prove I was FAR from being 'old'. Course......no one believed me when I said I was 29! LOL
And Robin....Yep, we share the same 12 steps! You just keep coming back--seems to me it's working for ya! And congratulations again.

I had forgot about making this post. It doesn't seem like that long ago. This summer has flew by. Soon Christmas will be upon us. These are the days it's really good to be in AA. I can't think of anything more stressful as having the family together and hoping there is no resentments. That, everyone can get along for the holidays. I'm pretty lucky, I have no resentments against anyone in my family. I don't recall having any b 4 AA. AA has made me aware of my blessings. It doesn't get any better then this. My name is Chris, I started this thread a while back. The invitation still holds for any one wanting to join this site. I'm trudging the Road to Happy Destiny. Come on and join us
