Today I'll be keenly aware of my senses. I will think about what I am experiencing at this moment. I won't let the beauty of this day slip by unnoticed.
- Courage to Change
Awareness is the first step toward positive change and growth.
- Melody Beattie
I was debating as to what to choose, this one or awareness. I was thinking of living in the day and being aware of the beauty of that day.
All I have is today. Living each day, moment by moment makes for a more serene life. Even what happened this morning is old news, it is gone, never to claimed again. What I do with that moment can be the difference between peace and serenity or chaos and turmoil.

Today is a good day, as I wake up thoughts are coming to me. I can't do anything in my apartment but sit and read, so why not go out, get some exercise, go to the library and see what unfolds. When I turn my day over to my Higher Power, things unfold as they should, not always as I would have them be, like last Friday, and my plan for playing bridge just didn't happen. At the time, it was why me? It is my birthday, I deserve to go to bridge. I don't know why I wasn't suppose to be there unless it was to stay home, take a time out and listen to the Statler Brothers.
Just accepting what is, makes life so much better. I like to pray, I will to will your will not mine in today. For this 24 hours, I am consciously connected to my Higher Power. If I listen, He wil not lead me astray. It is how I choose to interrupt or how much I choose to follow that makes the difference. I often as for my perception to be healed so that I have my own inner knowing and self-awareness.

When my friend called me this morning, I was reminded that substitution doesn't work. Something can't hurt me until such a time as I choose to pick it up and use it or injest it in some manner.
I am given daIly reprireve and the freedom from my addiction, when I live in today. When I ask for help, turn my day over to my Higher Power, I am given what I need to stay clean in today.
It is one day's feelings, one day's thoughts, one day's experiences, one day's trials and temptations, one day's blessings, etc. When I live in the moment, connect to my Higher Power, I am given that moment, to hesitate and meditate and think about which way I want to go. I am granted freedom of choice. Today I try to make healthy choices.
In the moment, doesn't mean I drag the past into it or project into the future, I am in today, in the moment, and can detach from things that threaten my sobriety (soundness of mind).

One of the ways, I can stay in the moment is the slogan "This too shall pass." I might not always like being where I am at, and yet when I work through things, I do know they will change. That applies to the good times. I know they won't always be there, so I might as well enjoy them while I can. Sometimes the hardest times to stay in the moment is when nothing is happening. Sometimes it is complacency, but most times it is often because there is no closer on what was and a new door hasn't opened yet and it is not time to take the next step and you have to 'just be' and let things happen as they should instead of trying to make something happen that is not there. My spiritual advisor told me that the timing is off because all the players are not lined up. Not necessarily their fault, it just is. It isn't all about me, so I need to be patient, stay in the moment and when things are right to move forward, I will know. So it is enjoy the moment, get from it what you can, make the best of it, and just be the best me you can be. Attachments:
