Each day I wake up to a new day, give me hope. Each day is a new beginning. A new chance and new decisions and choices. With the practice, practice, practice of this program, I can hope that each day I will do things just a little bit better in today. Progress not perfection. Doing the do things in today, give me a hope for a better tomorrow or a tomorrow in which I handled life just a little bit better than I did today.

Hope
I don't really know what hope is, except I know hope exists. I know in the core of my being that there is always hope..... We always need to keep moving forward toward the glimmers of light, even if we look or feel unsteady like toddlers taking their first steps..... We need to keep going and believing that we will find our way out of hard times and grace will move us to safety and serenity again.
Logging off for the day, hope your Sunday was a good one and I am happy to start a brand new week tomorrow....
Peace on the journey, SG

This was one of thte topics I gave Caressa last week for a possible meeting topic. I read the posts ehre and was really hoping they'd all be heart shares and not jsut readings from authors that had the cut and paste.
For me HOPE was not somethign I ever expected in my life. I figures I had "made my bed and woudl have to lie in it"...because I ahd been told that so often during my life. At my firs emeting I listened to the opening and closing for the alanon meetings and I heard a line..."you will find hope whether the alcoholic is drinking or not". I decided I must be in ther right place! I also fiund hope by listenign to the peopel aroudn the tables. They had it as bad ro worse than I did at home. They were actually smiling. That gave me hope. I jsut wanted to crawl under the covers or jump in a hole and stay there. I foudn I coudl make different choices and I didn't have to take on all of the things I was doing to try to control the sdrinking. That gave me much more time and so much HOPE!
I always ahd the hope that my husband woudl stop drinking. he has had soem short periods when he stopped, but now I have accepted the face he probably will never completely stop. HE went out for a beer yesterday, but he was back very soon, so he had no more than 1 or 2. That's a huge improvement from teh case or two he used to have.
I took the hope that I coudl find happiness and I did.

LIN Well said Lin.....Unfortunately our boards are sorely in need of more members willing to make those "heart shares". We also have to be willing to respond to other people's "heart shares" when they are put on the boards. Those of us that come to the boards daily need to not only share from the heart but be willing to reponds from the heart as well! Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

Would love to share more Lin. It is difficult sharing and talking to myself. Seeing your shares today gave me hope. I have tired to stay faithful to EoR and I just keep coming back. If I see something that speaks to me I share it. If something comes to mind, I share it. Lately, because of extreme pain due to weather conditions, the brain has been having problems thinking through the pain.
My favorite quote, I don't know where it comes from is "Hope springs eternal." While there is life there is hope!
What gave me hope was Step 2 and the Promises. It says in Step 9, "We will be amazed before we are half way through!" I was amazed that it worked for me. It gave me hope to continue. If it worked for others, it would work for me.

Today is a good example of a day that I need lots of hope. 1) I hope it gets over with real soon, don't want to repeat or prolong it. 2) Hope tomorrow will be better and I won't be so forgetful. I forgot my sister's birthday yesterday, called her because I was in pain and wanted to know what she did for the pain in her feet (hers are more numb than mine). It was only when she mentioned going out for dinner that I found out it was her birthday. I told her she was lucky, I was only a day late calling her. I was four days late calling our middle sister. 3) I hope this smog, fog or whatever they want to call it will disappear and be burned off by the sun they have promised us. Just can't handle much more pain, not sure what will happen if I don't get some relief soon. Came close to going to the hospital this afternoon. 4) Hope further meditation will get me through all this so I don't have to go to bed. I feel as though, going to bed would be using, a life long habit of mine when I couldn't deal with things. I have no reason to not go to bed. I have nothing to stay up for. I have no appointment tomorrow that I have to be there for. It is the principle of the thing. Hope your day is a good one! Each day is a day that I hope that this is the day that my son will make the decision to stay clean and sober. Attachments:
