Another day of recovery begins and we start this day with surrender. 'From that point, each of us is reminded that a day clean is a day won.' (P 86, NA Basic Text)
When I surrender; I win. Surrender, one of the principle of the first Step. Until I could surrender my disease over to the program, I could not recover. Until I surrendered to my Higher Power I could not heal. Not only my disease, and all aspects of it, but surrender the self. The drug is but a symptom of my problem. The problem is me. The solution is to get honest, surrender and accept it for what it is, knowing it is subject to change as I work the Steps to recovery. It is a daily thing for me. When I forget, I am reminded when my life is unmanageable. Pain is a good barometer. It often makes me grateful because I can feel it.

My life is unmanageable, when managed by me. I have to work on the second half of Step One daily. I surrender my addiction to the program and to my Higher Power.
