"Walk Softly and Carry a Big Book" - Book
Keep an open mind, something may fall in.
If I had the energy, I would been truly roflmao. I have never seen this particular quote before. What I heard was "Don't keep such an open mind that everythng falls out of it.
I think this is applicable to all forums so that is why I posted this in here. Take the body and the mind will follow.
I had a problem with speaker meetings, especially in early recovery because I tended to shut his/her if they went nto a big drunkalog. The first time I heard my sponsor speak, she had notes. I was horrified. I ended up asking her to be my sponsor in later years because I could see the growth in her whn I heard her share her story again, without notes. Again it was me being judgemental. Me taking her inventory and not keeping an open mind.
It was important for me to find what I needed for me. I had to work a program that worked for me not something copied from someone else. Something here, something there, and as my sponsor said, "You can learn how to work your program and how not to work your program."
Lately my program hasn't been exactly sound proof and needs to be revamped. Twenty years of sobrity seems like a good place to start. I was thinking that they say things come in 7s, so hopefully there will be many blessing in the next year If I listen and learn and learn to listen. Not only hearing the words, reading the words, or thinking the thoughts, but applying them to my life. No good up there rattling around in my head.
