I am getting excited about the holiday dinner.....
I have my daughter and her boyfriend here visiting for the holidays, it's so good to have her home. They both look really good! Getting clean has allowed them both to make so many positive changes in their lives. Maybe it takes a Mom to see it, but she just seems to sparkle......
When they were actively using, I hated HIM! I would assign blame to the boyfriend, for her drug use. I know now, it was never about him! Just my need to keep from looking at life as it really was. It's funny how looking at life with blinders on can mess up your perspective. I look back now and I can see how crazy my thoughts and actions were......
I opened my heart and my home to both of them and I was totally blown away with his reaction. His eyes teared up and he gave me a BIG HUG! I don't think he really expected to be given the welcome back into the family. My daughter hugged and thanked me for accepting him, despite my past feelings....
I think what I am trying to say is..... The past is the past! When I allowed myself to stay focused on the yesterdays, I wasn't allowed to see the good that was going on today. There isn't a darned thing I can do to change yesterday, but life is to short to ruin a perfectly good day with remembering the negatives from yesterday.
They are clean and happy....
I am happy and grateful.....
Wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving, ~SG~

Saturday Morning..... My daughter and her boyfriend got the car loaded early this morning and they are on their way back home. I think a good time was had by all..... Dinner was wonderful, I did not feel uptight or that I had to be the "perfect hostess". It almost felt as comfortable as a "normal" dinner when the kids were still living at home. The family is larger now, husbands, wives, grandchildren, I am going to have to buy a larger table. I felt a little sad today when my daughter left, but as I type this now, I think most of all I feel gratitude. I am grateful for finding Nar-Anon and all the wonderful tools and slogans. This program has helped me to find a better way of living my life. I am grateful to God, for having led me here and giving me back my family and all that those they hold dear........ Peace and Hugs to each of you..... ~SG~
