Thanks for the heartfelt share Arlene!
HOPE is the very first thing I received when I found AlAnon. "You will find Hope whether the Alcoholic is drinking or not"...those words. ANd the faces of the people around that table. They actually KNEW what i was feeling and had a look of peace on their faces. THATS was hope for me. When I started workign the steps, step 2 and three gave me even MORE hope. Just believing that God really COULD take away my pain and fears. That with HIS help my life could be made better. I did nto want to leave my husband or kick him out. I was afraid they'd tell me to do that. In AlAnon they did not. That also gave me HOPE. Like you, I changed my own attitudes and I relied on my recovery tools and my HP and that HOPE came true.

Thanks for sharing Lin. I too received hope. They called me a double winner, so being early in recovery, I took it as strokes, and I kept coming back.
As I have said many times, I have one reason to go to AA, two reasons to go to NA (food and pills), 3-33 reason to go to Al-Anon. I am the daughter of an alcoholic father who died as a direct result of his drinking. My mom died at the age of 40 because of her food addiction. I was married to a man who I labeled an alcoholic, and my son is a self-admitted alcoholic. Not sure where husband #1 fit in, he needed a program, just about any you put him in.
It was in Al-Anon I found myself. I also went to Al-Anon because of sponsee who relapsed and two of the died as a result of an overdose.
You can't help but be grateful for hope for a better tomorrow, living in today getting the best out of each day, give me hope that tomorrow will come.
