Have any of you had successful dealings with social services and/or the courts when it comes to children of addicts? I have dealt with the local ss and small town court system for what will soon be 10 years and am quite frustrated. I've reported drug abuse/dealing by the parents only to have the ss go in and "try to counsel" the parents instead of removing the children. I've reported abusive/negligent situations with the same family about 5 years ago, only to be pooh-poohed. Most recently, (the parents are now divorced but the child is being required to see her daddy), the child reported being taken on dope deals with dad. It was substantiated by 2 psychiatrists that she reported this to them as well but all was thrown out of court. Now she is having stomach problems (ulcers) and was taken to ER where they gave her meds and she began screaming "don't hurt me daddy" and a barage of other things. (Daddy wasn't there) Of course, they directed to social services yet again. So let the frustration begin yet again. Any tips to work the system would be appreciated.

Mornin Janet,
I have no first hand knowledge with "the system", at least not with social services. I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you.
It breaks my heart, how the children are so often hurt the most, by the addicted parents. When a parent is incapable of caring for their child, someone needs to step in. Social services, Grandparents, I am not sure who the job belongs to, but the welfare of the child should be the priority.
Hugs, ~SG~
