My 37 year old son lives in New York City and is an addict. He uses many substances, but the last I heard about was crystal meth. I believe that he is getting close to hitting bottom. We have not spoken since the beginning of September. I've been thinking about an intervention and want to be ready with resources if he reaches the point where he is ready to go.
I am looking for a rehab facility that is residential, that will keep him for a minimum of 3-6 months, that will work with someone who has not worked for years and has no money or insurance. I am looking for a facility that will provide psychiatric counseling as well as drug rehab. I've heard about Daytop in NYC and will investigate that.
Does anyone know of any other possibilities? We are located in Philadelphia, and if possible, I'd like to find a facility that is within driving distance of our home.
Also, I once posted on this site and someone gave me the url for an internet tool that will locate, with maps, all the AA, NA, AlAnon, NarAnon and rehab facilities meeting various criteria you put into the search. I've lost the url since my computer crashed. Can anyone give me that web address?
Thanks very much.

Thank you for sharing. Until your son is ready, nothing can help him. I would suggest that you turn him and the help he needs over to his Higher Power!
I have a son the same age, he has to travel his own journey. I have had to come to the acceptance that my son's mission in this life could be, "To use is to die!" I don't want that to be, but I know I can't help him, I can't control his life or his recovery, in fact the farther I stay away, and allow someone else into his life to help him, the better chance he has.
That is not easy when he keeps running home to mother and wants to sleep on her couch until the next door opens. When he doesn't need something, I don't hear from him. He has a lot of anger, and a lot of it is directed at me. He still carries old pain, and doesn't have a program to deal with it. I know I don't have to pay for the rest of my life, but I also know I have to take the responsibility for my own part. I can do no more, except pray and ask that God's will be done.

Good Morning FallChild, Welcome home, we've missed you! EOR is filled with people seeking the help and hope of the many 12-step programs. Like you, I have adult children that are addicted to drugs/alcohol. We have an online meeting schedule that you may want to check out. The meetings, can be a great supplement to your recovery program. Sharing on the message boards has also helped me so much. Keep posting and keep coming back, the recovery programs do work, but only if you work it. Peace on the journey, Sunnygirl ______________________________________

Thanks for those resources, Sunnygirl, they are what I was looking for. I will pursue them and let you know if they are able to help with what we need.
I will post later to say a bit more about our situation. It's unusual, which makes it more challenging in some ways to choose the right responses.
