Well, here I am at the beginning of another new year. I feel optimistic, but I try not to allow my expectations get in the way of reality. My goal for today is to stay out of God's way and live each moment of this day to the best of my ability. I am filled with gratitude for the blessings I received in 2003 and am looking forward to 2004 and all that it holds for me.
I was looking through the posts in this Nar-Anon section and I am hard pressed to find more than a few, that were started by anyone other than me and a lot of them, have no responses. What a boring section this has become! On one of the old boards here at EOR a newcommer asked in a post, "is anyone other than Sunnygirl allowed to post in the section?"....... This section feels like it is "the Sunnygirl" show and that has never been my intention. I apologize if it feels like it to you as well.....
I do a lot of reading, both here and on other boards and I am always drawn to the Nar-Anon section. I see people sharing problems, people sharing the blessings in their lives, sharing how their recovery is the center in their lives. People sharing their ESH !
Lildee and myself were sharing daily readings here and I thought maybe it would be a good step to group all of the recovery reading in one specific place. It was my hope, to encourage more people to share what is happening in their lives today. So far, this hasn't happened.......
If you have an addict in your life, this Nar-Anon section is here for you. If your life is filled with serenity, please share how you got there. Is there a disaster brewing, please share, there may be someone here that can share what helped them get through a similar situation. Nar-Anon is a WE PROGRAM!
It is very sad to see this section wasting away........
Wishing each of you peace and serenity in this New Year! ~SG~

Hello Sg~ Its so nice to have a section that I can go to and know that there will be a SG post!!! ;D Really appreciate all you do in taking the time to do so. That goes for Lildee and all the others too. I try to post some things that is going on in regarding to my life and also ask for other esh on what I am going thru, I am sure there ARE other out there that have been in my shoes one time or another!! After a time, I feel like I am a broken record, cuz nothing never gets resolved. That is where you come in, with your great posts it sorta answers my questions in so many ways without me having to do my own posts. LOL Just wanted you to know, that all of you are a inspiration to me and hope that 2004 will bring many good things for everyone.

SunnyGirl, I know how you feel. You write and write and no one answers. If it weren't for the "read" box you would even wonder if everything you have written is being read. But I look at it this way what I post mostly the Daily readings is for me, and I am sharing them with eveyone else. Kind of like when you go to a face to face meeting, you read from ODAT and Courage to Change. Maybe we need a section called Topic of the Day or something to that effect. Where everyone could share on a specific topic. Sort of like Mistyeve's column but instead of a chip use a topic. Just an idea. Love you and i do read your posts even pass them along to my hubby, but honestly after I finish posting the daily readings I just have a little energy left and a little vision left for a couple of posts. Love Arlene

It really wasn't a pity party that caused me to make this post. I'd been reading on some of the other boards and I noticed how the posts were more of a personal nature in this section. People asking for help, or sharing a miracle that happened in their life.
I like the idea of having a topic of the week, don't think we need another section for it. Maybe this is just what this Nar-Anon section needs.......... I'll put one up on Monday, unless someone thinks of one between now and then.... ;D
Hugs to each, SG

I like the idea of a topic of the week. I jsut posted a topic in ACOA section. I'll post more after the meeting...don't wanna share my whole story now...I want people to com to the meeting to hear it! How am I doing today? Very well. I just am finishing a 2 week Christmas break from work. Back to work tomorrow! Believe it or Not I am ready to go back. It's been pretty boring to watch a depressed husband watch tv, eat and sleep and not want to go out much at all. I went out once in a while without him and a few times with him, but not many. So back to work will be a welcome change. My life has really gotten better because I have changed. I changed how I react. I don't let people push my buttons. I have learned to recognize when that is happening and detach from their words. I have learned to use steps and slogans to deal with all kinds of problems each day...long lines in a store, stamp machines that won't take my money, traffic, and dealing with grouchy people. My life got better when I stopped trying to control what others did and spent that effort changing myself. And Sunnygirl...I ALSo enjoy reading your posts each day. I may not reply to many of them, but i DO read! Like Dg said...some days it is just what I needed to read! I'm glad Lildee is posting the daily readings too. There are so many wonderful recovery books. It gives others a chance to read some and see which ones they might want to order or pick up at a meeting or a bookstore. THANKS LILDEE! LIN

First of all, I think a weekly topic is a grand idea.
Secondly, SG, your posts always get me thinking about things. Often times, it brings to the forefront things that I have been rolling around in the back of my mind or helps me get a starting point for voicing a thought. Don't stop doing what you are doing.
Thirdly, I really appreciate the daily readings that lildee and sg post. It is one way I can guarantee that I will have no excuse for not getting my daily fix of inspiration.
Finally, as dg mentioned. I sometimes feel like the story has been heard over and over. I personnally don't like to burden others with my problems, so that often keeps me from posting new threads.
Everybody at EOR does a wonderful service for everyone else..thank you all.
Janet

Thank you for your replies to this thread, I kinda feel like I opened up a can of worms. I want to thank you both for your support. I too love the new daily reading section, Lildee is doing a wonderful service for us. I am so pleased to see the shares on the "topics of the week", lots of good stuff in that thread. I still continue to learn from each of you.....
For Janet and Dg.....
"the story has been heard over and over" When I first came to Al-Anon and Nar-Anon, I heard other people telling "my story" and I was amazed. When I stuggle and get stuck in my recovery, I go back many many, times to that same place. Talking it through and sharing, is what has helped me the most. It may feel like a "broken record" but we've all played that record over and over, until we learned the words to that song. I hope no one ever feels discouraged in sharing, any problem they may be facing in recovery. You may be reminding me that I need to make changes, or someone just might have found something in their life that worked and just might be a valuable tool for you.
Peace on the journey, SG

A topic a week is a great idea. Just my opinion, but I think that if a topic is presented in a personal context rather than a paragraph or material cut and pasted from another source, it may get more of a response from others. Personally I enjoy hand written posts better in sections like Al Anon, ACOA and Nar Anon, and I am more apt to post a response to a personal thread than to a cut and pasted quote. With saying that, I do enjoy quotes and am glad that a special section was created for them.
