"We regretted the past, dreaded the future, and weren't too thrilled about the present." Basic Text, p. 7Learning to stay in the moment, was the key to recovery for me. Surrendering each day to my Higher Power, accepting each day as it came, knowing it was subject to change, and willing to go to any length to stay clean and sober. My sponsor said, "Sobriety is peace of mind." I had to work on my emotional sobriety daily. My addiction affecting me mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. For me it was about getting honest, self-honesty. NO longer looking to people, places and things, to make me happy and fill that emptiness inside. I had to fill my life with positive things, even on the days, I was positive, there was no hope for me. It was important not to drag the issues from the past with me into today. If things came up in today, rooted in my past, I would do what I needed to sever the cord, look at it for what it was, recognize it and let it go. Many things couldn't be changed, yet I could learn from them and not repeat the same errors. I tried not to project into the future. I had to stop putting my life on hold waiting for something to happen. I had to live it in today. As the saying goes, if I have one foot in yesterday, and one foot in tomorrow, I am missing out on today. Attachments:

If we didn't have remorse, we might not be able to recover. We need to live in the moment, let go of our past and our fears. When we take our God with us, we can learn to walk in faith.
