No Ultimate "ah"
When we were overeating, we sought an ultimate experience of satisfaction from food. No matter what kind of food we ate, or how much, we never found that moment of satisfaction, that ultimate "ah." It was always just ahead, in the next bite.
Have we finally realized that the ultimate "ah" which we looked for in food does not exist? No matter what we eat, or how much, it will always elude us. Whatever we are looking for--happiness, success, peace, and fulfillment--it is not to be found in the refrigerator.
Food for Thought
Had that "AH" feeling when I stole my first drink and searched for that feeling all my life. I never thought of food being an 'ahhhhh' feeling before recovery. My mom was a good cook and all her food was 'ah' worthy.
My biggest 'ah' foods in today are chocolate pudding, garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, strawberries with or without chocolate, whipped cream on just about anything, and my favorite dinner is turkey, white meat only, cranberry sauce (often make my own), onion and mushroom stuffing, potatoes, turnip and creamed cauliflower and gravy.
The same with a stuffed pork chop, only with apples in the dressing. Which is really good and something I can't have any more, is crab apples preserved in sugar and water and red food colouring. I have apple sauce with anything pork, especially farmer's sausage.
Lately I have had to try to tempt my appetite, I not only don't want to eat it, I don't want to cook it. It is not healthy to eat packaged foods. I have had to throw out good food, because it has been in the refrigerator waiting to be cooked.
Again, when I go looking for that "ah" feeling, it often isn't there or even if and when I found it, I couldn't stop there, I had to have more.
