I am feeling hopeless right now ! I don't know if I want or even need to stop drinkign the rest of my life. I know that when I do occassionalyl drink .. I just don't like it. I drank in my early life jsut to see what everyone was talkign about. Alos I am trying to think if anyone has ever had a problem with my drinking ?? Onyl my mom who keeps vodka hidden in her cupbaord but doesn't drink. I think it's a waste of money and time !!

Thanks for sharing DJ, it isn't about what or how much you drank, it is what it does to you when you drink it. My mother didn't know about Al-Anon, not sure she even knew about AA, but she dealt with my father's alcoholism by using food. She didn't know how to express her feelings and really didn't have someone to talk to, in fact it wasn't something you talked about. She died at the age of 40 from her disease. She never drank a day in her life. My father died from his alcoholism at the age of 66. When his girlfriend got killed in a car accident, he gave up on life. I didn't think I had an alcohol problem either until I came to the realization, that I used alcohol like I used other substances. i.e. pills, relationships, food, work, etc. I decided I couldn't drink in the style that I had become accustomed to. The thing is, I could stop, but I couldn't stay stopped. Alcohol just compounded my disease. As the saying goes, "Instant a$$hole, just add alcohol."

There is hope DJ and it is available to any and all
Please TRY not to look too far into the future...All we have is one day at a time...Just for today the gift is here for you. One step, one minute, one second, one heartbeat
My expereince was just that one heartbeat at a time..then i renewed that heartbeat that second and was grateful for each one
Then I came to understand the importance of "WE" that I was not alone and did not have to journey and trudge all by myself
We are here for you; to lean on...Please take our hand and be with us...when you are ready
peace & prayers

Well.. what I know is I don't feel well when I drink. Even a sip I can feel it in my stomach and my veins. Seriously.. I just wish i knew what all the fuss is about. If onyl people had offered me money over the years.. instead of alcohol of food !!
