E is for Everyone. The key of willingness is available to everyone who walks through the doors of recovery. The tools of recovery will fit every nut who walks through the doors, all you have to do is be willing to pick them up.

G is for Gratitude. Gratitude for what is in today. Gratitude for the lesson learned. Gratitude for the life experiences that we have gone through. Grateful for my sobriety. Grateful that I didn`t have to just put a plug in the jug, end he codependent relationships, and grateful that I don`t have to take narcotics to deal with my pain.

I is for Intellect. I can't intellectualize this program. I can't think my way into recovery, I must follow it up by action. My best thinking got me to the doors of recovery, so had to accept that the program was for everyone, dumb and dumber. The more I thought I knew, I came to realize that I knew nothing. This is a one day at a time program for people like me who could still make idiotic decisions.

K is for Kin. My AA family was my kin and support until my family came to learn to trust me (in part), my sister still brings things up and can be very condescending. It may be my perspective, but always felt she had an ulterior motive, and I was the poor relation and a kin that was best kept out of sight and hopefully out of mind.

L is for Let Go and Let God. We can think it but until we follow the thought with action, we hang onto things. We don't surrender, we give up and instead of give over.
