My sponsor and I were sharing this evening on how important it is to validate ourselves. Acknowledge the knowingness that comes from within and have faith that it comes from our Higher Power when we turn our day over to the God of our understanding. That is the nice thing, we each have our own understanding of God and yet we can identify and share with each other. We each have a son who is in active addiction.
Having faith that things will happen and unfold inspite of us. She is much better at detaching than I am. Having faith in the program and that it works in all our affairs. She is not an alcoholic and yet I seem to relate more to her than with other sponsors who have been alcoholics and addicts. For me there isn't a difference, a drug is a drug. It all leads to the same soul sickness. Food, work, gambling, sex, relationships, computers, exercise, shopping, etc. are all addictions. I was told an addiction is somethng that comes between me and God.

What an awesome quote! I like Kahlil Gibran...
Another thing I heard that I have written in my BB that has helped me over the years is "Faith is the courage that helps us to walk thru our fears"..."cuz we are human we cannot be completely devoid of fears, however we can use our faith to mobilize us thru them rather than to remain paralized (sp) & immobilized in them.

How true. I personally, found anger to be a good motivator. Pain is always an indicator that I need to work through an issue. We can do what I can't do alone.

Caressa, thanks for bringing up a "golden oldie"... Many thanks to both of you for sharing!
"God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, or sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it." - - - unknown
My job is to take care of the possible and trust God with the impossible..... When I find chaos in my life, I don't pray for God to take away all my problems, I pray for strength to get through them.
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

According to a song I heard many years ago, faith unlocks the door. We need the faith behind the key of willingness.
