What's the best thing about your recovery? For me it is knowing I have a Higher Power who is with me every step of the way. Before recovery I had given up on any kind of HP. I thought he was not answering my prayers so he didn't care about me. I started to trust and to be thankful. I used prayer and meditation to gain strength. I no loner have to face life alone.
What's the best thing about YOUR RECOVERY?

What's the best thing about YOUR RECOVERY?
That could be a veeeery long list...YES it does in fact begin with God .. The poem and song "FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND" has very special meaning for me because it almost feels like it was written especially for me..I often feel like it is my story. God carried me thru the tornado and wreckage I created in my gunning and running and led me to the doors of recovery. Also as the Big book promises He is continuing to reveal Himself to me in so many ways as I continue to be willing & teachable and of service to him.
Additionally it is the recovery family I have found on this journey. It is the core knowledge that it is only by the grace of God working within me that I have this recovery family. Left to my own devices without the work He has done within me those steel walls would still be up imprisoning me and keeping me isolated from everyone; shutting out their love, their encouragement, and all the other blessings and gifts that God fills them with & pours thru them.

What is the best things about recovery? The freedom from active addiction. That freedom allows me the freedom to be myself. That freedom helped me to find the God of my understanding. That freedom taught me to live one day at a time.

The best thing about my recovery was the new life I have with my family. The smile that my daughter gives me strength that alcohol will never break the home I am meant to serve and provide. There's so much to live for and no one should waste one minute of it.

Like EVERYTHING reply by BW. My God hasn't steered me wrong all these 29 years. There were times over the years that I took my will back, but He has always given me a warning, a little nudge, or a blatant shout that said, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO GO BACK THERE. The answer is NO.
