Just for today I will remember my serenity is inversely proportionate to my expectations.

A long time member once told me a formula--I/E=S that translates out to Intelligence over Emotions = Serenity

Dr. Bob said "Faith without works is dead" I have to talk the talk & walk the walk. I went to a meeting this morning and will go to a meeting this afternoon. I think that is putting my faith in my recovery in action!!!

The poem "Footprints in the sand" is a good reassurance of this!!!! The poem talks about how in good times there are 2 sets of footprints (mine & God's) but when times are real tough & devastating there is just one set of footprints and that was when God carried me......

Just for today I will remember I do not have to like it or understand it to accept [any situation or issue]

It does make it hard to accept & understand if I don't like it or understand it!!! The best I can do in a situation like that is to have resignation.......

by resignation do you mean "surrender"? And is it really the best you can do? That is only a question to ponder...
For me when i hear myself saying things like "the best I can do" is the time to dig a lot deeper as my first sponsor loved to say.
I found that I needed to surrender my doubts, fears, any control issues which includes any I am not aware of and then put in a prayer request asking for help, strength and courage to accept whatever the situation is..then as it says in our 24 hour plan...sit back, relax and take it easy and let God be God. I do not get to give HP a time limit or tell Him how to teach me or show me or even how He is to accept what I just laid before Him ...even tho sometimes I want to...LOL
Just for today I will let God be God

Like that, "I will let God be God." As I shared yesterday at the meeting, "God is as He reveals Himself in today." My sponsor said, "I don't care who your God is as long as it isn't you." I had to learn to not try to play god with my life or with the lives of others.

Hi BW---I have had a long time problem with acceptance and resignation. MY sponsor explained it as Acceptance is give up and let go of the emotion. Resignation is give up but still hang onto the emotion. Surrender to me is to just give up!!! Acceptance is hard for me to let go of all emotions and just Let It Be. I definitely need God to grant me the serenity to Accept!!! not sure if that makes any sense???-------Bunnypie

HI JO---I always liked the saying "Be Still & Know That I AM God" It lets me know that I shouldn't be playing God!!!--------Bunnypie
