A is for Attitude. Sometimes it needs adjusted, other times it needs to be completely changed. It is almost Thanksgiving time. Put some gratitude into your attitude.

B is for Beauty. Be aware of the beauty around you and within you. Take a look around at your God's wondrous beauty.

C is for Cover. The 12 Steps cover all areas of our life. Cover yourself up with love and surround yourself with the Spirit of the Fellowship instead of the blanket of denial.

D is for Denial. Denial is refusing to live in reality. Denial is lack of acceptance and refusal to look at things as they are, and only seeing things as we want them to be.

F is for Forgiveness. Forgiving others; but most of all myself. It has to begin with me to find it within myself so I can give to others.

G is for God's Gifts. Accept them, be open to them, even when they don't come in the shape and size you would like. Recognize them and give thanks, they can be big and/or small. There are many if we just look for them.

J is for Joy. If you are not enjoying sobriety, what are you doing wrong? We have a new chance at life. It is what we make it. We are granted freedom of choice. I choose joy and happiness.

K is for Keep Coming Back. I prefer the saying, "Keep coming so you don't have to come back." If I keep going to meetings, applying the Steps to my life, talking to my sponsor, reading the literature, and doing the do things suggested in recovery, I don't have to use in today. Keep coming back, without you, there is no me. When we work on the issues in our life and get rid of the baggage we carried for so many years, we are free of the burdens that kept us using in the first place.

L is for Love. Pay it forward. As they say in Al-Anon, love yourself the way we already love you. We can do what I can't do alone.

M is for Memories. Not just the bad ones, the good and not so good ones too. Recovery is a program of progress, not perfection; so if you make a mistake, remember, that doesn't mean you are one.

N is for "No!" As the saying goes, "What part of no don't you understand." It is alright to say "No," I don't have to be a people pleaser and always say yes. I don't have to say, "How High!" when someone gives me a negative entreaty like jump right to it.

O is for Opinions. As the saying goes, everyone has one. It is okay to state your opinion if you are asked to share it or if you ask permission to express it. Sometimes it is best kept to yourself. Attachments:

P is for Priorities. What is your priorities in life. My priority is staying clean and sober. Without my sobriety, I have nothing and nothing to give to others. If I don't have me, my family doesn't either, whether it is my birth family or my recovery family.

Q is for Quick. This isn't a quick fix program. It is about progress, not perfection. Quit beating yourself up, you didn't get this way in one day, so accept the fact that we heal and get better one day at a time.

R is for R & R! I need to find time for rest and relaxation, to fill myself up, so I have the energy to do and give. I don't have very much to give if I am operating on fumes, and an empty soul is not very giving or forgiving.

S is for Service. Get involved in service. I don't think I would be here in today if I hadn't got involved in service when I was two years sober. Posting here is the only service I can do today, unless I get a phone call. I got one a few weeks ago, and so glad I was having a good day, so I could go and meet her for coffee. Pay it forward, I can never do enough service to compensate all that I have received over the years from the Fellowships, and people outside of the rooms of recovery.

T is for Trust. We learn to trust God, ourselves and our fellow man. We came from different backgrounds, but we had a common goal, we wanted to stay clean and sober. We learned to trust the program and know that it will do for us what it did for others.
