A is for Attitude. Make sure you wear the right hat through the day and take an open mind and a compassionate heart with you. Remember that attitudes often need to be adjusted. I found the best way to do that is go to a meeting. It also helps to find some gratitude, it isn`t always about me, myself, and I. Attachments:

B is for Bear Hugs. Be your own best friend, give yourself a hug. I generally go up to someone and say, `Do you do hugs?`or `You look like you could use a hug, do you want one?` Attachments:

C is for Christmas. It is the reason for the season. For me, it is a time of rebirth of the Spirit, and a time to be grateful, loving, and forgiving.

D is for Denial. It is not a river in Egypt. It is about the unwillingness to face things as they are in today. An unwillingness to accept our past and address our issues. When I put on the blanket of denial, it allows me to cover up a multitude of sins.

E is for Easy Does It. As the slogan says, "Easy does it...but do it!" That is the part that I sometimes forget. My life is pretty easy does it these days, thanks to the program. So grateful for the 12 Steps of recovery that when applied makes my life so much easier.

F is for Faith. I have faith in the program and my God. Just for today, I choose not to use and if I work the program and ask my God for help, I find the trust in myself, and I know I will receive what I need to stay clean and sober in today.

H is for the Holidays. We can stay clean and sober over the holidays if we use the tools of recovery. Remember it is just another 24 hours, and just for today, I choose not to use. I have to be willing to stay clean and sober, no one can make me drink or pick up a drug. They don't have the power. I have to remember that I am powerless, unless I take my Higher Power with me through the day.

I is for Ideas. Just because I have a thought, doesn't mean I have to act on it. When I get an idea, I learned early in recovery to run it by my sponsor. I was told to do the complete opposite of what I use to do, because the old way of thinking was part of my dis-ease.

J is for Just for Today. Just for today, I choose not to use people, places, and things. I am grateful that my God puts people, places and things into my path to show me a new way of living. There is a difference. I think it is called a change in attitude. As it says in the Big Book, sufficient to bring spiritual awareness and change my life without the use of drugs and alcohol.

K is for Keep Coming Back. Better still, keep coming so you don't have to come back. Keep coming to the site, to meetings, to your sponsor, and doing the Steps.

M is for Much. There are many things to be grateful. There is never too much to count your blessings. Look at what you have, not at what you don't have. Like the saying, "Much ado about nothing." That was me, I need to remember the slogans: "First things first, How important is it?, What is a priority here? One day at a time." Am I expecting too much and accepting too little?

N is for "No!" It is a complete sentence. As the song says, "What part of "NO!" do you not understand. We are allowed to say it and we don't have to explain it.

O is for Open. Open your heart and your mind. Let the goodness of God's Grace in to heal and change your life. When we are open to new ideas and concepts, we can be open to new ways of dealing with life. Be open to the concept that you don't know everything, that the people in the rooms will love you back to good health and show you a new way of life, clean and sober.

P is for Patience. Have it if you can. I always use to say, "Only doctors have patients. I didn't get this way overnight, so I can't expect a quick fix, in today or when I came into recovery. Every things for me has been a process, which takes time and patience.
