My story is on the board. For me it was AA. I went to AA for my denial, NA for identification, I knew I was an addict, some is good, more is better. I went to Al-Anon because I was a daughter of an alcoholic and a food addict who died at the age of 40 as a result of her disease. I was married to an alcoholic and have a son who is a self-admitted alcoholic.
It was the 12 Steps and the Fellowship who loved me back to good health and showed me a better way of life.
I spent 5 days alone in a living hell in my room detoxing. I didn't know about detox and that I didn't have to do it alone. My social worker arranged for me to go to the mall and pick up my daily medication and I was weened off everything my doctor had prescribed. I had to change my doctor, he was my supplier for years. I later went to a recovery house for six weeks with her help. I went to two meetings a day for six years, I was one of the really sick ones. I was 49 years old when I found my way to the doors of recovery. Thanks to the program and the Grace of God, I haven't used for 24 years, 4 months, and two days.

I'm glad you shared something! It really means a lot to me. Praise God for being back on the right track. Truly, God never forsakes us even though we're not deserving. I was inspired by your story!
