I hope everyone will accept my wishes for a very Merry Christmas!!! I have not talked to 2 of my 3 sisters since the death of our Mom over 8 years ago. I may show some defiance of the "family feud" and call them on the phone and wish them "Merry Christmas" I will have to risk getting cussed out or hung up on and I don't know if I can accept that or not?! The Serenity Prayer tells me to "accept the things I can not change" and also "the courage to change the things I can" There is an additional line that I have added to the Serenity Prayer "God Grant Me The Serenity to just remember who I am" I am wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and I hope you will accept that!!!=====Bunnypie

Remember my friend, all you can do is reach out. How they accept it or reject it, is their stuff. My sponsor always says, "If we do things with the right motive and intent, things will work out as they should, that doesn't mean that it will turn out the way we want it. As they say, when making an amend, we go through the motion and find the willingness and it isn't up to us as to how it is received.
It took a lot of acceptance to come to the conclusion that I owed an amend to a few people in my life. Some I had to find the willingness to make the amend, and put them in the category of "Unless it hurts them or me."
Acceptance helps me to move forward. Defiance keeps me blocked, not only from others but from my God too. How can He help me if I keep saying, "No!"

I called my sister who is 2 years younger. We shared a room growing up and an apartment until I was 22 years old and got married. We ended up talking & laughing for over 2 hours. Life is a gift! That why they call it the present!!! We wished each other Merry Christmas. Now I am on speaking terms with 2-3 sisters. Is this odd or is this God??? I vote for God!!!! ----Bunnypie

So glad you were able to connect with your sister. Thanks for the reminder, I need to pick up the phone and call both of mine.

As a friend use to say, "That's not odd, that's God." I forgot to call my sister.

Hey Jo----Sometimes the phone can weigh a 100 lbs. and its hard to pick it up! The 7th step prayers says "grant me strength as I go out from here to do your bidding" Prayer and action can work together.-----Bunnypie

On the whole, don't have a problem picking up a phone. What I do have is a short memory, mostly due to Fibromyalgia. I am also a believer that things happen when they are suppose to, and if I needed to call her and the time was right, I wouldn't have forgotten. I did call her later, but there was no answer, I will try again.
I love the 7th Step Prayer, always say it though with the 3rd Step Prayer first. The Amen comes at the end of Step 7.
