Life goes on. It doesn't stand still. When I was using, I used to make time go because I wasn't capable of dealing with life on life's terms. I just wanted to get 'life' over! Stop the world I want to get off. Then I found a reason for being, a purpose for my life, and the worst day in sobriety far exceeds the best day when I was using.

Why wait until Step 6 to address your issues? Why continue to act out in your disease until you absolutely have to. We become dry drunks, when we just put the plug in the jug. This is about adult children too, we are affected by the alcoholics in our family, and even if they stop drinking, if we don't deal with our own issues and change, we continue to reflect them and the dysfunctions we grew up with. A sponsor keeps us focused and directed to where we need to go. They aren't suppose to do it for us, but they do have a shoulder to lean on, even if they don't carry us. This is a we program, and a sponsor was a "we" that I needed to put in my life, along with my home group members, and the many members who I got telephone #s. We have to take down the barriers and let go of the fear.

We are were we are at in today as a result of decisions made.
Do we want to continue making those same decisions or is it time for change.
