S is for Serenity. Mine just went out the window when I noticed that I missed a letter. That hasn't happened for a long time. I must be really getting senile. I noticed that I did one letter twice. If I am honest, I have to tell you it was a mistake, not an inspired thought. Sometimes I wonder, what on earth I am going to do next.

V is for Victory. Victory over our disease, one day at a time. Without my Higher Power, I would be dead, the 12 Step program of AA, saved my life and I am very grateful. For those who are religious, the Bible says, "There is Victory in Jesus." I think it is Victory through Jesus.

W is for Worthy. I am worthy of recovery. I thought that there were more people more worthy than I. I compared instead of identifying. I was told that my Higher Power and work for me to do. I had a message to carry to the alcoholic/addict who still suffered.

X is for 'Xtra. Sometimes we need to put 'xtra work into our recovery, especially when we have using dreams or when we are approaching another day, week, month, year anniversary into our recovery.

Y is for Yes. Say yes to recovery, yield not into temptation, and stay clean and sober, just for today.

Z is for Zest. Do you have a zest for living? If not, ask yourself why. You have been given a second chance at life, celebrate and enjoy. What do you need to put some zest in your step? Perhaps go back and take an inventory and find out what is missing and your score card reads zero.
