I am honest in saying it is safe for me to be back!!! I was NOT dishonest when I claimed to be scared of a virus. My computer has been fixed by my hi tech friend and he gave me the Green Light to come back and post the chip of the day. It looks like I have some past chips to catch up on. This is very important to me to do this chip because it represents my 6th & 7th steps in the AA program. They are so important and crucial to my sobriety!!!
I have to be honest and say I will continue to recruit more people to come to this column. I realize it is attraction NOT promotion but I will still see what I can do!!! I am glad to be back!!!-----Bunnypie

I can honestly say, that I have been all over the site and never connected with a virus. I am glad you finally found out what the problem was and were able to pin point it so I could contact MAX. Too bad you didn't send him an e-mail or a private message to let him know when you first found one. I honestly hope we have heard the end of this. This is a recovery site and need to carry the message of recovery.

It was safe for you to post as long as you had no virus on your computer. My virus protection guards my computer when I come across one. What I am using today can't be reformatted so I would be out a computer. Truthfully, if you had no virus on your computer it was safe to post on the site. The post you were referring to was from a long time ago and I wasn't so computer literate back then. I just post here, I can not correct things and make changes to the site. I can't even correct my old Caressa posts.

Your information is NOT accurate. Please talk to my hi tech friend for correct information. He has joined this site and he can explain better then I can. I did NOT have a virus until I caught the virus from a picture that had a virus attached to it. He can give you all the details. YOU need to be careful when you "import" pix from other sites. His name is F150 and you can do a private msg to him. I am not clear on how to do that! I can reply to them but not sure on how to start them. I am NOT hi tech but my friend is and can explain all this to you. I am just very happy to have my computer back and running!!! It is expensive and high anxiety to go thru this. I am NOT lying about this!!! It really happened!!! The reason I like to stay in today with posts is so we can keep every thing clean & current. Do you understand the logic of that??? I hope so!!! If you can't make corrections then it is good to try to NOT make serious expensive hi anxiety mistakes!!! This is all I am saying......Bunnypie

I took the details and gave them to Max. I keep saying, I am not able to make changes and I can't even get to the post you are talking about. I wish you would stop harassing me about it. The picture is old and in the past and as you said on a previous post, you share in today. This virus thing has gone on for weeks. I took the steps to contact Max because he is a friend on FB. I don't go there very often, just to connect with him when I have an issue about the site and to talk to my sister and my niece. I am a member of two groups there, "Courage to Change" and "Addict's Mom."

I don't do the requests, games, and all the jazz they have on FB, I go there with a purpose and don't go on the site for all the things you can do there. I post recovery on FB. That is who I am.

What you see is what you get. As you have said, "I've forgotten more than you'll ever know." My recovery is AA, NA, and Al-Anon based.

Hi Jo---As it says in the AA Preamble "I do not wish to engage in any controversy" I am trying to work on my primary purpose of staying sober and helping others to achieve sobriety" The comment by F150 was very accurate (just for today #30 link) He said the name of this site is Essence of Recovery. I need/want to look at and work on the Essence of Recovery!!!!-----Bunnypie

Yes that is true, talking about viruses all the time is not recovery.

The Essence of Recovery is to stay sober, not stay away from the site because you found a virus in an old post in the Check In section.

I have no control of what goes on this site and can't make the changes. I am not a moderator, Sunnygirl is and she doesn't come here, maybe to read, but not to post. I just hope she is alive. Max is the only one who can reformat, delete, and change anything on the site.

Honest is about sharing how the program works for me. It is about sharing what I do in today to work my program. Some days, my program goes out the window and I have a sober day not one of sobriety.

Recovery is not all about the virus on this site, or should I say, the virus that was on the site. It is old news and you keep bringing it up. You got your computer fixed. You did not have virus protection, so you went and got help. That is good and that is what recovery is about. It is not about complaining over and over again about the same thing that happened weeks ago. That is going into the past and bringing it into today. It isn't about bringing old posts into today that carry a good message of recovery. No matter if they are worded differently than your list, they still speak recovery.

Hey Jo---I use to go to a meeting in a club house that had a hole in the roof. The meeting room was on the 2nd floor and when it rained the water was dripped into a huge spaghetti pan. There were times when it would drip so loud into the pan you could not hear the person talk who was commenting!!!
It was necessary to fix he hole in the roof so we could have a comfortable meeting where every one could hear what was being said. I compare the hole in the roof to a virus on the site. It had to be addressed so we could communicate and have a safe comfortable meeting online. I don't see it as a complaint but as a warning that something needs to be fixed!!! Just like the hole in the roof at the club house!!! A spaghetti pan to catch the drips was a temporary band aid. The bringing up of old posts is good because it reminds us of past experience HOWEVER I think it is good to have recent posts so people who are checking out the site maybe for the first time will know that it is NOT a dead site and is current and in the present!!! TLhe saying that today is a gift that is why they call it the present is very much applied to what I am saying!!! Do you understand what I am trying to say? Not really, this site has had problems with people coming and posting for years.

You brought up the topic that you found a virus on the site and I went to Max to report it. To my way of thinking, that should have been the end of the story.

I have been all over this site and found no virus. I am sorry that one of my pictures, please give me the date it was posted, caused your computer to crash. I want to make sure that the whole post has been deleted from the site. As I said, "It was my picture, but as a rule my computer lets me know if a picture or a site has a virus." If it was an old one, I can understand, but not if it is a new one in the last two years.

I don't see finding one virus on an old post makes this site unsafe. How did you click on the picture and pick up the virus? I really have no understanding of this. I am not saying you didn't get one, and I am not discounting your feelings and your being upset, I just don't like the site being jeopradized over one picture.

PLEASE X 5!!!! take a look at the response that F150 made to you on your Just For Today Link on the Chipping Away at Character Defects column. It is under #30. He explains in detail all the tech stuff about what happen. He is a professional IT person and knows what he is talking about. If I knew how to bring his quote over to this area we are in I would. I have re-read his post. He says that pictures make the site look like FB. Well people from FB do come here to read and they kept coming back, not so much any more.

The people on my friend's list are family or people in recovery. One of the first people to befriend me was someone who I met in recovery when I was 4 years clean and sober and met him in NA. He lived in New Zealand and I was able to reconnect with him. We had a mutual friend who died from the disease of addiction.

I am still baffled as to how I can go all over this site and not meet up with a virus and you want me to stop posting because of one picture posted in Check In. How does your friend access the site and able to delete the picture or the post? Inquiring minds want to know. He fixes computers for a living. That is good, personally I don't have a clue. For example, I have a 'c' key sticking on my key board and is aggrivating me. I cleaned around the key, but it still sticks. How can he remove the virus from the site unless he is a manager nand given the OK from Max. I am glad, all the more power to him. I would love to be able to go back and edit the site, remove old pictures that are no longer in print and correct typing and spelling mistakes and delete posts where the links are no longer valid.

Once and for all, I have read his post several times. Is he in recovery himself?

I have slowly tried to mark posts that are no longer valid or posts that are spam, but Max has not deleted them all. Ironically, more people have read the spam than the posts at chipping away.

I enjoy posting the pictures, and as I have said before, "They have a story to tell and for me, often add to the story. I will see a picture and get a story from it or I get an idea and will go to the search engine for my server either Google or Yahoo, and/or Angelwinks.CA to find a picture to go with it. 99% of the time, it is there and I don't have to go looking for it, it is just there. For the most part, I use animals. According to Jamie Sams, animals have a lesson for each of us.

i.e. frog means cleanse. Cleanse your body, mind, and spirit, remove the toxins and let go of the old to make room for the new.

The reason I want to post pictures is to attract people, not send them away. No pictures is boring, but the words are good when said with the right attitude and the ego is removed. Don't have to have the last word, I can leave words unsaid, so I guess I can leave off a few pictures if it makes you happy. I will not post them in the regular sections, I will only post one on my Just for today 2016 post, for welcome and birthday wishes, and my columns "A DAY CAN START ANY TIME and the ABCs." Not sure why I am repeating myself. This virus thing is old new and want to know why it is flogged to death. Making an issue about one picture is insane. I am more concerned about the pictures that don't show and had a quotation on them.
