I am dripping with self pity! I have tried to carry the message of this column and web site and NOT had much response. I have 2 deadly diseases of cancer & alcoholism. I am discouraged and depressed that I am not getting any cooperation or participation. I would love to have some feed back on how others handle the character defects in their life!!! I have handed out flyers and sent emails with out much luck. It makes me feel rotten that I have tried to help so many people and now when I need help I get nothing back in return!!!! YES the self pity is very strong for me today---Bunnypie

Glad to see you back John. Welcome Dragonpct, glad to have someone posting and being supportive.
I turn my defects of charater over to my Higher Power. I can't, my God can, and just for today I choose to let Him.
We have never had many people post. I have found that attraction rather than promotion works. You put up good recovery messages, share how your program works for you. I try to share how I apply the Steps, they are applicable to all areas of my life. Steps 4 & 5 come before 6, and then you have 7-9. For me Step 6, is taking an inventory of what is there, admiting to what we find, and in Step 7, which I see as acting out in our disease or our defects if you will, falling short of who my God would have me be in today. Making a list of who I owe an amend to and following up by making that amend. It doesn't have to be accept, it just has to be said, even if it is not acknowledged.
The Promises say, "When we are half way through making our amends, the promises start to come true in our life. If we don't make the amend, then we carry the garbage with us and the promises are not fulfilled in our lives.
