It has been 12 days since my cancer surgery and I am making progress. I am able to lift my left arm up to be able to wear over the head tops and night shirts which is excellent!!! I was wearing button down the front tops and tie in the front bath robes and don't like that at all!!! I praised the surgeon and told her she did a good job and put the "marvel" in marvelous!!! She gave me a big smile. I think she enjoyed the praise. I know I enjoy praise a lot more then I do to be criticized!---Bunnypie

Always say, "Give praise where praise is due." I did that with my dart team and got ridiculed by our other home team who consisted of the president, past president, secretary, and vice president of the Legion. We were on Double 1 and couldn't hit it, normally my favourite double and we lost to them. One member of our team said, "If we beat them, we will never hear the end of it." We were down to a double long before them, and I think we had fear of winning. Ironically, I could beat most of them on any given day. Two of them gave me a battle and the other two were no competition. The president was the one who did the mimicing of my words and actions and I was hurt. She was the one who asked me to join the Auxiliary. She was later disappointed because she found out I wasn't a 'yes' girl.
I do believe helpful criticism is good for me. It is often how it is said. I always looked to improve and was always asking questions wanting to know.

I think the best way for me to learn anything is to ask questions & take notes. I have been criticized for taking notes but my memory is not that good so it really helps me......Bunnypie

Smiling, I tried making notes and found that I forgot to take them with me or misplaced them. I am like the cartoon of the elephant with a string around his finger.

I know what you mean but for me when I write something down it does help me to remember even if I don't have the notes. when I write something down it helps to reinforce it into my memory! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!-----Bunnypie

That is true, the same thing when we vocalize somethiing. It helps to put order to our thoughts and we can see where we are at in the moment and if we are heading in the right direction. A woman told me many years ago, "When you go to tell your story and you hit a wall, and you find yourself saying, "Duh! and you are not sure what the right words are, sit down and shut up. It is you not your Higher Power talking." I did that one night and people were surprised that I didn't talk very long. You know, for me not to talk there is something wrong. LOL!

YES! God talks thru people. It is one of the reasons I still go to meetings. There use to be a sign on the wall of a club house I went to that said "Lord fill my mouth with all good stuff and then nudge me when I've said enough" I really like that! It is a reminder of balance.......

Like it too. A firm believer that the answers are there if I choose to seek them and accept them when I hear them. So grateful for the people that my God put in my life. Some we may only see once at a meeting, but they make a big impact in our lives. It is especially rewarding when you have someone from another city, province, state, come to your meeting. It reminds me that wherever I go AA is there. The group I had for 7 years called Freedom of Recovery (turned it over to others when I went back to school), we had visitors from Alaska, California, Florida, New York, and from other provinces in Canada.
