I am battling 2 killer diseases cancer & alcoholism. I have to be honest and say that it really wears me out but I can't imagine being drunk or dying with out putting up a fight. It is easier to stay straight then it is to get straight. I would be dishonest if I said I wanted to start all over with my sobriety. The same goes for cancer. If I ever have a relapse I don''t know that I could go thru all the consequences of recovery (chemo, losing hair, being so d**n sick & tired) I have to be honest and remember the saying "to thy own self be true"-------Bunnypie

The 12 Steps are applicable to all areas of our life, not just alcohol. As they day, there is nothing in my life to day that a drink of alcohol will make better. My son said he had a couple of beers from friends, and they help the pain in his back, beer is a great muscle relaxer. The same son who comes to me the next day after having a few beers wanting something for his pain.
As the saying goes, "I may have another relapse in me, but do I have another recovery?" I don't think so.

I remember someone saying about booze & drugs-"think the drink - figure the fix - ponder the pill" It is good advice and easy to remember cause it all kind of rhymes!!!!
