This chip reminds me of keeping a confidence. Example...I have a new sponsee. Her husband is my husband's doctor. I have not told him I have a 4th sponsee yet. But when the time comes and he meetings her i will NOT tell him her husband is the alcoholic. If he presses me I may say she has a daughter in college. Which is totally true. It's not saying the daughter is the one with the problem. It's none of his business. But if she says her last name when thy meeting...it may come up. I will keep a confidence and not gossip. So I see that as discreet. It's also saying something to someone in private without embarrassing them. Like telling a stranger that they still have a tag stuck to the leg of their jeans. I wont yell it out for all to hear. I will quietly tell them...just because I would want to know.

Good examples Lin. I am discreet. I wish more people would tell me well I have a tag showing on my clothing. I don't want them to yell it across the room, but I do want to be told.
Again, it is how we say it, not so much as what we say. I think discreet is just another word for anonymity.
