V is for Victory. Victory over my disease, one day at a time, when I do the do things that are suggested in the AA program. Get a sponsor, get a group, get active in my group, work the Steps with my sponsor and apply them to my life. A very good blueprint to follow, it has worked for me. It keeps me sober with hope for a better tomorrow.

W is for Willing. Whenever I didn't want to look at something, I would put on the blanket of denial. It was my protection until such a time as I was willing and able to deal with my issues. Many times I found myself at a stage where I had to pray for the willingness to be willing to take it off and open my mind to accept some Good Orderly Direction to help me deal with what was/is in the moment.

X is for EXpectations. Expectations can be killers. We forget that we need to accept things in today, in order to change. Sometimes we have to dig deep into the root of our problems. Many issues originate in our past, things we were not able to grieve or deal with when we were in active addiction. Some things we haven't completely let go of and there is a thread connecting us to the past and in order to have health and well being in today, we need to cut the thread and let go and let our God show us the way or do it for us. We often expect God to fix everything right away and we forget to do our part.

Y is for You. Without You, there is no Me. This is a we program and the power of recovery, is one addict sharing with another one. Sometimes it gets difficult, even for me to talk to myself.

Z is for ZZZZZZZs. It is important to get rest even if you can't sleep. Sometimes it takes a while to regulate your sleep, and then there is me who seems to go in fits and starts. I don't have fits so much any more, I am more accepting of the fact and it helps me to take it as it comes. When you try force it, it just doesn't happen.
